That said, it's still very early in development. Compared to other early access titles like Fields of Mistria or ELIN, which offer a lot more in terms of gameplay depth, this game feels quite raw.
One downside I've noticed is that some of the close-up NPC portraits are really unattractive, which doesn't match the otherwise visually stunning world the game offers
As an artist, I actually like the art style, but I get what you mean, we are used to more anime-esk art styles or more simplistic, so seeing one that is more towards cyberpunk aesthetics on a game we are used to softcore cottage is really jarring.
I personally like it, while I'm not a fan of the portraits of Fields of Mistria, since I'm not a fan of 80s/90s anime art style, and a ton of people will disagree with me, because they think it looks good.
I would say to think of the art as an 3D and you will realize why it feels so jarring ^^
I don't think anyone complains more about "woke" than the people who aren't actually part of the "woke crowd".
Just shut the ♥♥♥♥ up and let people exist, in real life or in the media you consume. A queer person being in a game doesn't mean they're "pushing a narrative on you" or "making a game political". You confirmed that bias for yourself.
Nothing is threatening your way of life just because a little queer person is in your FOV.
Nobody invaded your personal space with an undesirable topic, because it's an online public space where you can literally just look away. So either participate to the discussion or continue doing the same and be seen as dumbass.
I just ignore the woke part, because more than half the people in this thread are using buzzwords they don't even know the meaning of.
It's like the Pronouns thing all over again, they go cavemen the second something inclusive shows up.
Like you I am an artist myself and have been for a very long time. One of the things that initially attracted me to this game was the art style tbh and pretty much everything is absolutely gorgeous. There is nothing wrong with the art style - but that doesn't make the characters easy to look at. I would argue that it's not the art style which renders them on the wrong side of ugly, it's the design and choices (several of the girls excluded, mind). I completely feel everyone who says that they're unattractive and that they wouldn't date them.. and mind you, a lot of women will crush on damn near anything if it's aesthetic enough. It doesn't have to be conventionally attractive, it doesn't exclude quirky or weird aspects, plenty of media have shown us that. The characters are not unattractive because of the art style, they are so *despite* it.
I think it's perfectly fine for people to say that they'd wish there was at least one or two passably attractive characters (male in my case, as I think a few of the girls are okay) in the game, especially when the game is supposed to have a dating/romance aspect to it.
When I played Final Fantasy 7 remake, I didn't play happily as Cloud and as soon as it made me play as Barrett scream "I CANT RELATE TO THIS PERSON AS THEIR SKIN IS DIFFERENT TO MINE!" and uninstall the game. It's a character. I'm not a f******g wizard but I can watch Harry Potter. People are just so f******g bored and have such meaningless lives that this "woke" sh*t is all their existence is.
People need to stop seeing it in every single piece of media, get over it, move on. Get a life.
