It's so bare bones that it's basically an asset show without a game
This is just an asset flip of the Annihilation assets as a new game.
It was too difficult for many players to get in to with the weird camera controls. Me and my friends might've been fine with it but going by it's sales and ratings, the average RTS player didn't like it.
Honestly I didn't bought it for planet. But to experience at least a little fun and be able to enjoy the concept. But so far it's very very hard because everything is so unpolished, and more importantly not finished or just not there.
It's not a problem not to have all the assets, not to have all game modes, to have some imrpovements to be made to the interface, not to have all the content.
But here even the core is not there, even the things that we consider for granted in any game, and the heavy interface/ergonomy is a fun killer.
You cannot even do a simple match against the AI, which is of course a big issue for any game, but here it's actually almost a good thing because if I had to make a serious game against the AI, that would be a disaster under these gameplay conditions.
I feel they should have just given the game to just backers, and work on the game more from the feedback from them before it hit steam. Just to avoid the people review bombing it.
Seriously, the focus people put on ♥♥♥♥ like playercount (especially for single player games) is unbelievable. Nobody cared about it ten years ago.
Yes, we just tracked sales data. Also 10 years ago there was no option to publish your unfinished steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥ and call it EA.
