Combat difficulty and practical Soft Lock in Aquarium
I'm really not a fan of the combat. Particular the range on my melee attack, versus the larger range of much smaller enemies.

As a result of that, my game managed to get autosaved after the first Aquarium flashback cutscene with basically no ammo. There's really no way to progress the game now other than to try to get multiple lucky melee hits on enemies. Run back to the bathroom to heal, save, then try again.

On top of that, all my progress in the previous room (the gift shop?) seems to be undone when I save. Enemies are alive again, boxes undestroyed, bugs unsquashed.

You can run around most enemies. If they get too close to you, stun them with your third eye and then keep running. Don't bother trying to kill everything. In most survival horror games there is no benefit to killing enemies except getting them out of the way, so it's often a good idea to just run if you can.

Hi Em Sea Elle

There is a setting you can enable which may help you progress until you find some more ammo. In "Settings" > "Accessibility" you can enable the "Water of Life". This will give you a bottle of water that never runs out which could be used for assistance as you look for ammo.

It is normal for boxes to come back, we don't save the state of those. I will look into what you've mentioned about the enemies in this room not saving, thanks for letting me know.

Regarding critters not staying squished, there was a bug here which was resolved with a recent patch so you might not have the latest version of the game. If the game hasn't updated automatically you can right click on the game in your Steam library, select “Properties” from the dropdown list, then in the “Installed Files” tab select “Verify integrity of game files” and it will download the latest version.

Thank you

Tom

I would like to suggest that some people (me, it's me) are so bad at first-person shooters that vastly increased ammo clips would enable them (me) to enjoy the game a ton more while still *not* making the game too easy (for them/me). Infinite water helps me so much, but I'm such a bad shot that even infinite ammo wouldn't make this a cake walk. I'm getting better! But it's still hard.

Another option you do have is that you can go to accessibility and futz with the sliders for locking onto the heartbreaker icons. It's a slider so you can adjust it until you feel like you're still trying but not struggling.

Out of curiosity, are you playing with a controller or with mouse and keyboard? It might be worth switching if you're on controller as using a mouse makes the first person aiming significantly more responsive. Otherwise I'd advise trying to pull enemies one at a time where possible. If you wait until an enemy gets close before activating your third eye it will stun most enemies for a second, giving you time to line up your first attack. Every heart broken after that will cause another stun, so it's just a case of taking your time to line up attacks and trying not to panic.
