Which letter of the alphabet is Michelle?
Follow-up question. I'm looking to grow my worldview by trying LGBT-lens media. But for me that's a whole bunch of different genres, not just one, so I like to know going in which letter/s of the alphabet I'll be learning to see the world through.

Which letter/s of that alphabet is Michelle? I'm guessing she's lesbian, but I don't want to assume. Also, is she cisgender, trans, etc.? Any other labels this cisgender straight bumpkin ought to know about?

People shouldn't be putting themselves in a category.

Those that do are the ones marginalising themselves...

Ignoring that, Michelle is obviously sapphic due to her previous relationship with her female ex. At no point in the game does Michelle exhibit interest in male, or otherwise overtly masculine, characters. I would say that without any additional evidence, Michelle comes across as a lesbian (especially as her mags of choice are also of women!)

While it could be said that she *could* be bisexual, it is impossible to prove a negative. The only 'solution' to this is for Michelle to actively seem disgusted by the idea of being with a man, which many would simply consider tacky and unnecessary simply for the benefit of solidifying her identity as a lesbian.

Sorry We're Closed avoids the use of the various Pride Flags as a way of allowing easy identification of the characters in preference for letting them speak for themselves, a decision that is actually very refreshing.

I get the vibe that some characters are trans or non-binary, but it's never stated directly.

A few characters are never referred to anything but gender-neutral pronouns. In this case, The Duchess & Robyn are both only ever referred to with They/Them. They can, assumedly, be taken to be explicitly nonbinary.

As for binary trans that can be a bit less obvious to pick out, without the shortcut of having a Pride Flag to identify with at least, so you can only really go off subtext. And a bit of projection. We love a bit of projection.

Saying that, the entire vibe of any relationship not entirely between humans in this game is extremely queer in the way it is handled. (It just helps that most of them are also queer in the LGBTQ+ sense as well.)
