My playthroughs
I managed to beat the demo on my "first" run. The running felt great, however....

  • I had no idea how to start the game, in fact, I thought the demo was just a free run test in that little starting area until I saw someone on tiktok playing it. I apparently missed a pop up?
  • The procedural generation, while I get it, can leave some really poor / broken levels. I got stuck in the bottom of a ravine in a skull level and had to sit there till I died to the "fog".
  • So far, the buffs from the shops seem lackluster. For a roguelike, shops should really change the feel of your character. The buffs available feel like they could have been a level up system rather than shops / rather than a roguelike entirely. They're not bad by any means, but the general design behind the game lacks the crunch to really benefit from the roguelike mechanics sprinkled in
  • Maps / challenges need some sort of coherency, in 99% of the levels you're going from point a to point b. I had one that I had to dodge beams coming down, so I figured I had to dodge them while racing to the end of the level, which cause me to launch myself off the level.
  • I also had a skull level that had a giant, thing? right smack dab in the middle of the map that I had to run through but couldn't without going hard right or left which let the fog catch up to me. I ended up losing my run on that map alone due to this. which leads me to
  • some sort of indicator on where to go would be really helpful.
  • What is the scoring system at the end of each level? I get a rating, but no idea why I got said rating. Was I too slow, did I take damage, did I not beat LIN Shidong by holding my ping pong paddle with my feet?
  • I had a bug the first time I played, which is probs why I missed the where to go note pop up. Not sure how to recreate, but I never noticed the tutorial pop up about boosting until I was just about to leave the level. I clicked right as I went through the portal and after that the boosting animation where she jumps on the board kept playing over and over as if I was clicking my mouse repeatedly. Couldn't fix it, so I had to close the game out.

Even with all of this said, I love the gameplay. It gives me an old school Tribes feeling with the movement and I love it. Even if nothing of what I said is changed, it's still a day one buy for me. Landfall kicks ass, ya'll are always making such interesting games. Any openings in the audio dept? XD

Glad to hear you liked the demo and thanks for the feedback :) The rank is determined by speed and how close you are to the killing barrier that is following you.

I had the exact same issue in the hub. Needed to restart the entire demo in case I missed something. Finally looked it up and found someone else show where to go. There's no indicator in the hub at all of how to start the shard.
