[Suggestion] About Snake 3 Missiles removal...
Hello devs! Is there a way you can make the missiles collide with the snake's body/the environment instead of completely removing them? imo I love the idea of running on foot at mac speeds while being chased down by heat seeking missiles like in the movies and comics, it really adds to the speedster power fantasy!

but my disappointment from the missiles didn't come from its unforgiving difficulty but from its absent counterplay using the core mechanics.

When I first encountered Snake 3's missiles, I thought I was supposed to make Close Calls and sharp turns to have them explode on the environment and even on the snake's back.

At the moment I thought "Oh wait! Is this what they want me to do? that's so sick!"
It's was exciting and I couldn't wait to feel that adrenaline when I pull it off...

I try it...

AAAAAAAND the missiles just clip through everything and I just die. xD

--------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it's an amazing idea because speedsters getting chased by missiles is a very welcome trope!

But if we look at speedsters in other media, they don't simply outrun the missiles forever. They come up with a plan to outsmart the missiles and looking for the right moment to execute it.

-Maybe a sharp turn on a wall,
-Maybe forcing the missile to collide with an enemy aircraft,
-Maybe forcing the missiles to collide with each other!
-And sometimes just keeping a steady pace as the missiles run out of gas and go limp.

by rewarding players for having an idea in the middle of being bombarded by a nuclear war, I think it would makes Snake 3 a challenging and memorable fight even for casuals.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Removing the missiles entirely is definitely the last resort and I understand,
Implementing more interactions like the one I suggested is gonna be one big problem solving project that will lead to a lot of micro adjustments for sure... and the hassle might not be worth it.

but all I ask is a consideration, if this idea is possible to pull off then I would love to see it in the game! thank you for reading!

I don't think stuff like that comes back. Seems like the majority of people are overwhelmed by steering and diving.

The problem with them is that the tracking is too good and their hitbox is really small that it's really hard to do disengage them and understand that I did it.

Every time I disengaged missiles, I had no clue on whether the missiles timed out, hit obstacles or hit me during some sort of invincibility frames. I understood partially the developer intent of using obstacles, but it gets drowned out by poor feedback; or rather lack of feedback because of how precise you must perform the mechanic that it's really hard to perform consistently. It's not helped by the fact it's often the kill mechanic and that Stage 9 is rather long (unless you are savescumming the boss).

My solution was to just beat the boss before missiles become a thing. I see it as it's time punishment mechanic. You were too slow, so the boss does something you don't want it to. Snake boss basically slaps you with missile pressure, Jumper jumps to the other side of the map without you damaging it for being too slow, caravan uh... More lasers? (Caravan is a nice spectacle, but the lack of mechanic to pressure the player to engage with the boss makes it really easy.)
