Final Boss is cancer
Sorry, I that was fairly hyperbolic but I do think that the final boss requires some tuning.

I can see what the devs are going for here and I appreciate it. And it would be cool. Except every aspect of what would make this cool is overdone to the point of annoyance.

The Arena fracturing is a cool idea, except there are too many chunks that just dont have enough curve to launch yourself off of them. If you make the mistake of being unlucky enough to land on a fractured platform that's lower than the platforms around it - you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

While you're busy trying to find an angle on a platform, you're being constantly bombarded by laser beams from the boss. Which is fine, except there's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ many of them I can't see anything. I can't see where I'm landing, I can't see where the next target is, I can't see ♥♥♥♥.

Finally, the timer should be more generous. Smashing a target should reset the timer completely in my opinion, especially considering the aforementioned ♥♥♥♥ that will basically guarantee you lose if you make a mistake.

Extra finally - the boss can only be fought at the end of stage 10. So basically a 15 minute "run back" to the boss.

Once again I'd like to reiterate that I like the concepts for the boss - but they're tuned up so much that this isn't a boss fight as it as seemingly a test of the effectiveness of my blood pressure pills.

much love from australia

You don't need RNG; you spend 1000 anti-sparks when talking to dido to unlock it and then you can switch to it from one of the menus (I push the back button on my xinput controller, no idea what the keyboard shortcut is).

I have the sage's cowl, but you need RNG for the best energy regen items.

The shard 10 boss is a brutal example of bringing the right tool for the job. Sage's Cowl with energy items (especially unconditional ones like the plutonium coin) completely trivializes it.

Strongly agree with this, just seems weird given that the rest of the game doesn't require specific tools/builds

You are overreacting other than the final boss the rest seems mostly polished and balanced (atlst after the patches) also the team must have been rushed with the anticipation and the hype of the game now I would have liked a better final boss but the rest I really enjoyed.
I agree, after the patch shard 10 is way better designed, but i have to disagree with you beyond that point the rest doesn't seem very polished to me. For instance: Most items are just worse versions of the ones we found in the demo, or dilute the item pool from the few good ones. Playtesting would have revealed this and given them a chance to make items more interesting. Theres like 3 in the same rarity which all give like 10% boost, but one is giving it unconditionally all the time, while the other 2 give it on close call and a cooldown, etc.
I agree with the item bloating. The demo was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pefect man, the itempool made it possible to reach 130-160 m/s every level. Now i'm barely able to hit these speeds ONCE in a whole shard.
Edit: bahaha nevermind, I came back today and obliterated the boss with 40 seconds remaining. Ya'll sleeping on the hourglass bigtime, it completely breaks the game even without supporting items

I think I would agree here....Although I was going to try new items and switch up my strategy today. I used several builds that I felt were really good and powerful, only to get completely nuked on the final boss. I can make it TO the final boss without issue pretty much every run. I spend the whole run considering my lives and items to beat the end boss and I still fail.

I don't think you should gut the boss, but the timer should be a bit longer, or maybe bumping into the sides of the elevated chunks doesn't damage you and only the lasers do? Sometimes I'd be trying to run up, or use vertical mobility only to hit the side and get heavily punished for it.

All that to say, I'm sure it's easy for some better players, but the spike of being able to breeze through the entire fragment only to get annihilated on the boss every time feels pretty bad. I've made it to the boss I think 4 or 5 times, and spent 1 to 3 attempts on it each time. The closest I got was 1 fragment remaining

I've made it to (and lost to) the final boss twice now with the courier's board. I feel like the main issue is the terrain sometimes causing you to be completely unable to escape, as one section lowers itself way too low, leaving you trapped if you don't have the right items or abilities. I'm aware that sage's cowl and wraith's hourglass are both great at avoiding the pits or getting you out of them respectively, but imo the final boss should be viable with all abilities, not just two out of the four.

You can still beat the boss using the board tho, i was able to pull on off just a while ago. Well, with bit help from Mysterious Spring and Plutonium Coins.

either cowl or hourglass and it's pretty easy.

I'd make the fracturing chunks larger and/or reduce the elevation differences. And please make them a bit easier to see from the sides.

The collapse/convergence of everything in existence doesn't have to be just black and white colors.

Biggest Problem i had with the final boss was being too fast to the point were the platforms would fracture without me even having time to react or lasers spawning inside of me.
I had Roughly +70%-90% or even more in some of those runs which is a lot, but it feels bad to realize you lost because u were "too fast" in a game that wants you to as fast as possible.

as far as i can tell the final boss can be completed with surprisingly few items. beat it after a rather unlucky run of items and with the grapple hook which seems unadvised but ♥♥♥♥ it the grapple is too much fun. only had bout 20% boost items in total and a handful of spark reliant items that seem relatively hard to use consistently in the final boss. the main thing i would agree with after that is that the terrain probably needs some work. if the terrain got more deep craters as it broke up itd be less frustrating to get around. other than that i beat it within a couple min and with plenty of time on the timer. had to plan out a few targets in advance but it didnt feel unbalanced
Gotta pich in last boss is badly designed :/ cluter on screen does not allow for any decisionmaking. And it is basicaly a rng roll if You get good platforms...
It is dooable but realy not fun. As is snake.

What i would do - fracture the terrain and activate only one target at a time
then refracture the terrain again. And mark another. This way You play to games strengths.

The fact that completely baffles me is that they made him WORSE in the patch. It is almost impossible to hit him now, because you can still not even remotely run along his back because he outspeeds you even with an enormous amount of boost, and the still enormous amount of ice spikes means 9/10 times you are just pinballed left right up and down from 100 to death with absolutely 0 chance of recovery if you dare to get hit by literally anything.

It is absolutely infuriating. With how specific the hitbox is, I have not been able to deal even one damage to him in the 5 times I reached him since the patch. Before the patch I managed 2 and then got pinballed.

I have to agree. The final boss just feels unfair and unfun. I wanna go fast but the terrain just does not let me. I want to finish the game but now the thought of replaying shard 10 multiple times just to get a shot at my least favorite level is not too appealing...

Final boss aside, I've thoroughly enjoyed this game. 9/10

Cancerous but doable, doing achievements on shard 10 is something worse than cancer.
