We have changed the game!
Will multiplayer be supported in the future on a smaller scale? (co-op or racing against a few players)
Is there support for modding, like importing custom characters and levels?
Is there a customization system for the characters in the game? (hats, color schemes, clothing, etc)
1. I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those games that you play for a few minutes and then get bored with and play something else. You guys can't let it become that!!! Adding something to keep bringing people back to the game, whether that be ranked multiplayer, some kind of battle pass, would be a really great idea. Don't let it die out, it has such fantastic potential!
2. Pretty closely related to the last idea, but I, and from what I've seen lots of others, really think implementing some kind of multiplayer is essential to the game maintaing relevance. Give us the option to play competitively instead of it being just another "chill game". I'm not saying you should remove the singleplayer with levels!
3. Maybe having seasons in which each season's levels or maps have different themes and gimmicks! Having mastered a certain type of play style to then having to learn another (not immediately though!) would be really engaging, not only to existing players but also as a way to draw in others.
So yeah, they are a few ideas myself and my friends would love to see in the game. We've never made a game before in our lives, so maybe they're silly, and if so ignore this absolute novel of a comment! We have, however, played a lot of games and know what we like. Super excited for the game, keep up the awesome work!!!
When we started working on HASTE we were looking to make the game into some kind of racing large-scale BR game but as development continued we started to notice that it wasn't that much more fun to run against other people than when you were racing to finish the level on your own. Both were fun, but it started to seem like despite the absurd amount of work we were putting into the multiplayer part of the game, it wasn't really adding much.
So we decided to try to spend our time in a way that did add to the experience instead. And so far, it seems to be really good for the game.
It is possible that we still include some form of multiplayer mode, just on a much smaller scale than the initial plan but we can't promise it will be included until we can test that out properly.
Hi! See the FAQ above regarding multiplayer.
We don't currently have any modding support planned for the game.
There is currently no customization system for the characters.
Hi! Please see our reply in regards to multiplayer higher in the thread/in the FAQ :) We think HASTE could be the kind of game you come back to again and again to perfect your runs, just like similar games in the genre. When we tested out multiplayer we realized that running was almost more fun than racing other players and that we could do much more with the game if we didn't have to sync massive amounts of players. We still might add some kind of multiplayer aspect but it's not going to be the major draw for the game.
Battle passes etc require that the game to become a "game as a service"-game, which isn't something we're interested in doing. HASTE is made by a small team of devs that wouldn't be able to support continuous massive updates.
I've had to forego otherwise great games because of lack of m+k controls and that would make me sad if that happened to this game too.
Do you get random upgrades on each run?
It's made by the game's composer Karl Flodin :)
