Either Maya or Laika say that curse will die with them, but I'm not so sure.
It's after all a curse so powerful that it can effortlessly reconstitute a person from complete destruction.
An immortal wolf's head ghost rider would look absolutely badass...
I don't like when game just ends without some proper epilogue.
Last game that went above and beyond my expectations was Hollow Knight
I truly hope we have a DLC or a sequel for this game
An alternate ending, please my heart can't take bittersweet endings ;_;
You could argue that it lessens the value of the overall story, but damn I really wish things turned out a tiny bit differentely for her, she deserved SOME kind of peace.
And by somekind of peace I don't mean being blown to smithereens
It took me about a week to mostly process this game emotionally and I am still thinking about it.
And while I agree, that there would be a couple endings that would make the ending feel "nicer" like Laika managing to do it in time and get back or I was even thinking about a shot of her watching over Puppy as spirit (we've seen those being a thing), I think it fits the game quite well to end how it does. Sometimes it's fine for a story to end bittersweet and not in rainbow land.
Hell, I even had to cry when I even summarized the story to a friend.
The boatsman got to me too. That final conversation when Laika told him about the whales she's seeing while he is likely already dead at that point and she's talking to his spirit...
To me the game is definitely one of the most impactful ones I have played.
Don't get me wrong, the ending is spectacular, and I did say another ending would lessen the "value" of the overall story.
But damnit, I'm a grown ass man and everytime I think about this game my heart aches for these characters to be a bit less miserable
