Did you enjoy Mania? If you did, then get Origins. It's the best way to play the original (and greatest) Sonic games. Lowest price right now (far as I know) is on HumbleBundle. You should spring for Sonic Origins Plus so you get 12 GameGear Sonic games, too.

Sonic Mania and Origins uses the same underlying engine for the games (Retro Engine v5), but the games themselves are different.

Mania is like what Dark Souls 3 is to Dark Souls 1. Its identity is built around calling back to the old games a lot but design wise it's a new game doing its own thing in its own right

Incorrect; Sonic Mania uses RSDKv5 while Sonic Origins uses RSDKv5u, a modified version that combines RSDKv3, v4, and v5 with tweaks made to each part for the collection and other things. It was made by Christian Whitehead *specifically* for this collection.

You should play Sonic Origins, since you will be able to experience the games that practically were the cause of Sonic to even exist. The collection is a bit buggy, though, I do recommend installing Sonic Origins Ultrafix to patch a large chunk of bugs and other oddities.

There's lots of various bugs in Sonic Origins, Ultrafix patches about... i'd say over 500 or more? That's within the 1000 changes it makes btw. The changelog can be found here: https://pastebin.com/raw/Wx3p0RRL
