State wise the Mobile versions but you need to be online to play them. That didn't used to be a thing with them but after they got updated the online requirement was a thing and as far as I know I don't think you can buy them either.

You can pay a small $2 fee to remove ads on the mobile version which I believe also unlocks the ability to play offline as well.

I think that was before they became free to play but I'll check it out.

You can play them in Bluestacks if you don't want to use Forever and Absolute, but use Forever and Absolute. They're great.

Forever, Absolute, and AIR are better than this collection. Seriously. It's easy to find legal APKs of Sonic 1 and 2 mobile versions for Forever and Absolute, and if you got 3&K on Steam previously then you already have a legal ROM for AIR.

Since this collection came out, I've spent more time playing Forever, Absolute, and AIR than the collection. I'm thinking about refunding it. The fanmade stuff is simply better.

Also Sonic 3 and bugs.
Yeah but mobile ports have no controller support, touch only controls = bad

have you seen how many mods they already have on gamebanana for Sonic Origins? It'll be a few months tops before we have those ported to Origins

No, I played both 1 and 2 via Bluestacks, and I didn't have to do any touch to controller stuff. They detected my controllers through Bluestacks.

Man, I never even used mods in those games until a couple days ago, and even then it was only the slower blue spheres mod that I'm apparently still not skilled enough to play after 25 years of regular speed blue spheres.

Umm. . . Forever, Absolute and AIR are mods. . .

No. They're more akin to a Doom source port. A Doom source port in and of itself is not a mod.

Furthermore, at least some of these source ports support mods. See AIR and its support for mods. It's right there in the menu, too. Mods. The word is right there.

if it was like a Doom source port you wouldn't need to own the original game, like Sonic Robo Blast 2. Because you need the original game installed, it's a mod.

Have you ever used a Doom source port? You have to provide the original Doom WAD files to play the original Doom games, just like how you have to provide the ROM file for AIR or APK files for the others. It's analogous to a Doom source port in every way. I don't know about Robo Blast 2, but AIR and the others are simply not mods. Calling them mods is like your parents calling all video games Ataris or Nintendos.

I submitted a refund request and left a negative review. I just played Sonic 1 Forever. It's way better than Origins. I'm done here.
