In 'the movies' you build buildings, there you build rooms and can place some staff in them like in 'the sims'.
Movie planning similar to 'the movies' BUT movie itself limited a lot. in 'the movies' even without edit you getting something like logical movie. there actor just staying in default poses at stage. you can manage yourself, but there lack of actions.
also stages you should create (compared to different prepared stages in the movies)
there is no difference what to shoot (in the movies there demand for some genres and themes and they vary during time)
all
also all staff like pools, sofas and all 'decorations' just items - ppl totally ignore them
Maybe they will add in the future more details, but not sure
you can set 2 cameras - they will use single camera always.
micro and lights also just increase movie rating
About homes - have this a lot.
in the movies you can make trailer and territory for each star while you have place. there you have limited property on the map. for example i have 5 5star actors + director + producer. but i have only 5 5star homes at map, and 2 of my people always have poor mood because of that
Just that you could make real movies and dub them was the great thing about the movies.
Nowadays with AI audio so much would be possible...
So just the standard studio simulator... too bad
I'll just have to wait for Sora if the game developers can't come up with a proper remake :(
Either you never actually played The Movies, or it's been so long that your no longer remembering what it was. The Movies had a lot more content than this game. Specifically, it had much larger and more intricate sets (and outdoor sets), and way more player control over the scene. Back in it's day, people used it to make actual machinema. You cannot do that with this game. It's a handful of small sets and a handful of animations that you can drop into that set.
If your interest in only in management, the same basic tools are here (albeit, IMO, broken... the balance is waaaaay off)... but if you want to actually feel like you're making movies, this is so far behind what The Movies was.
Ok, but Lionhead was a AAA developer/publisher back then with experience (from Bullfrog to Lionhead) and they were not with 3 people. Also the game was sold at 2* equivalent of the price of this game. It is ok to compare, but let's try to be fair :-)
Sure, there are things lacking, but I am personally impressed with what is already in the game. I don't feel robbed for the price I paid and while I want some aspects to improve (the challenge f.e.), I thought the movie part was still well made despite not having all the options I would like. Hard for me to compare with the original game as I really litterally played it 20 years ago and not since then.
also regarding comfort while playing it is not even close to being "finished". many things are very unsmoothe... for example renting houses for your celebrities.... not being able to return to the same window you were before and stuff like that.
also extreme performance problems and at least one gamebreaking bug... even savegame destroying if you did not have the luck that i did with an autosave before the bug.
as i already said...it should have been early access... i suppose they rushed into full release to grab sales before the other similiar games launch.
at the moment i am unsure if i want to play or wait until there possibly is a full game there. If it was an Early Access - yes i would have immediately said... pay 15-20€ ...support the devs and have some fun doing this...but do not expect a full game.
with it being a full release i have to admit... it is not a 20€+ full release game. it is just wrong and i am not sure if i want to support this behaviour from a company to be honest (especially if there are so many similiar games... at least so many similiar tycoon games out there that made that phase far better)
I loved the Movies, this is good, but can be better with time, only up to the devs.
Only 'bug' is that when you have a lot of sets and peeps, then the game slows down, they have to optimize that !
Only Bug? Lol...me and some others had a gamebreaking Bug. Bus delivering or getting the workers just does not drive on. Stays forever and you cant do anything anymore.
And yes as i said...if it was early Access i would gladly Support the devs...the way they just Hit the release Button...is just not okay in my opinion
Frankly it really should have been released as Early Access, this is the perfect example of what should be presented as an early beta.
