Does The AI Actually Just Cheat?
So, there's this whole system where you can't guarantee a super after a combo unless your in sparking mode. However, multiple times I've seen the AI of CPU Opponents just ignore this and guarantee hitting with a super after having finished a combo with a launch. How does this happen?

? You can do the same, how is that a cheat?

X, LS ^+Y, RT+(x,y or B)
The AI cheats to the extent that counters are based on timing, and the AI can perfectly block/dodge when theres no way it could've known what you were going to do, this is called input reading, so basically since you teleported behind the AI, it teleports behind you. if you counter its attack, it counters your counter, and it wont fail, cuz its timing is perfect and it knows what you pressed and when you pressed it.

to balance this, the AI will also have periods of down time where it does nothing so that you can power up and engage it when you're ready. This is similar to the Kakarot system, and we've seen that this game took *a lot* from Kakarot. In Kakarot, the AI was basically unstoppable until it entered its cooldown phase, so you just have to dodge and block all attacks until you see an opening, then you can go all out until the next phase starts. Sparking borrowed this system but without the cut scenes, so the AI will unleash a crazy onslaught of perfectly timed combos and counters, until it goes into cooldown and just sits there for awhile.

On top of that, its also an AI, so you can trick it once you understand how it was coded, like forcing it to fly across the map when you need some breathing room.

Like, everyone can do that? Didn't you know?

I personally do the AI nasty with a double super.

Start combo => counter the enemy's counter dodge => knock him into the air a few times => start charging ki => drop the first super a few seconds before he touches ground => charge again => drop the second super as soon as he touches ground

Et voila, a free 25k+ combo

I swear the game just doesn't let me end a combo with a super unless I'm in Sparking. There's so much endlag on everything.

Funny you say that, because to me there's almost NO end lag compared to BT3.

Huh, weird.

I have actually started my own post hoping to get some of the communities input of some of my observations. The major one I am trying to figure out is the window the player has to respond to the AI attacks seemingly shrinking as a combo/counter chain continues. It almost feels like the player's response window becomes handicapped the longer a counter exchange continues, which is making it difficult for me nail down the correct timing for the super counter, for example.

Are you sure you do the super fast enough? I can end all my combos with supers no problem.

Something I do (because I had the same issue before) is to return the controller to neutral. What I mean by that is let go of all buttons and the sticks, and THEN input the super command. I think what happens is that if you still have a signal going into the game, then it won't register the input for the super correctly. The most likely culprit, at least it was for me, is not returning your stick to neutral.

I think an easy solution to this (easy to think of, not sure if easy to code/implement) would be having the AI "learn" as a match progresses. I remember in BT3 there were some combos I could/would use all the time because I had the most success against the AI with them. They can keep the input reading, but make it so that the AI uses it more if you use the same attacks over and over. This way, it encourages the players to approach every fight with the idea that they NEED to shake up their attack styles to be successful, while also keeping in the input reading to keep the AI challenging, especially for the really good players.

Yes. To an absurd degree. Had Krillin use 3 Afterimage Strikes back to back. Started at no more than 4 of whatever the number is called and 1 bar of Ki. Not counting all the times Goku does the counter teleport for free.
