You can absolutely beat the opponents before the timer runs out and that mostly causes alternate endings
Which defeats the purpose of the scenario in the first place. Either the enemy beats me or i beat the enemy. Having a time limit defeats the purpose of having that fight and the fun of the scenario entirely.
Not really, just beat them faster, if you beat them faster usually it means you weren't supposed to win, but you did, so now you get a what if story based around outclassing the enemy.
If you time out its usually because that's what happened in the original story.
That makes no sense. If i am already in a scenario that isn't the original story the game has no business to force the original outcome again.
Tbh I felt like this during the radditz fight as I would get him halfway before it ended and got the dbz canon pathway but after multiple attempts I got him weak as hell and the match just finished without dealing the finishing hit. Kinda takes me out of the story regardless if they aren't beaten but suddenly end up defeated fully in the cutscene. Just a nitpick though.
Thats my point. It serves no purpose whatsoever other than to pull us out the story or the fight in and of itself. Not just radditz but other battles as well. It is just a pointless feature that serves no purpose.
If i wanna play the original outcome i play that storyline. It makes no sense to force me back into the original storyline if i am fighting in an alternate storyline to begin with.
We already told you what the purpose is.
Also if the fights are time limited even in alternate storylines that means that even in this case there's an alternate ending to the alternate storyline
And i already told you that is a stupid and useless feature. Alternate storylines can me made by decisions not by time based fights inside a fighting game.
If we take street fighter for example the winner is decided by who has the most health and not by who managed to beat the other by a timer.
This is just ridiculous. The selling point of this product is fighting and not speedrunning or beating a timer.
No former DB game had this stuff. Neither should this one.
You are talking about the STORY mode and it tries to retell the STORY and its outcomes. Even alternative STORIES have alternate endings to them.
If you wanna see who can win fights freely
try playing other modes
Also Tenkaichi 1 for example had this too. There were a lot of fights in Story mode where it said "Survive". The fights were mostly difficult enough that you would have a hard time winning so instead you are made to make the time counter run out
Survive is different than Defeating an opponent. If its surviving a timer makes sense but defeating shouldn't be restricted by the timer unless its an event like planet nameks destruction. Its a nitpick but it can throw you way out the story with minor details such as you and the enemy pausing midfight and the cutscene plays the opponent being beaten and bruised when you barely defeated them.
The main purpose of both is pretty much the same - you aren't supposed to win the fight. I get the main complaint but it's not in there for no reason
And i can't enjoy the STORY if i get constantly sucked out of it this way. This is ♥♥♥♥ story telling in every way regardless of how you look at it.
I don't wanna play other modes i want this stupid mechanic gone that serves no purpose other than to annoy the ♥♥♥♥ out of me and hinder my "enjoyment" of the "STORY"
Yes the difference in Tenkachi was "SURVIVE" and there is a significant difference if i have to stay alive till a timer runs out or if i have to beat an enemy in a certain amount of time with no indication of what said timeframe even is.
The only Story elements in which such a timer would make sense is the fight against freezer before namek explodes, beating Majin Buu before SSj3 runs out or similar scenarios.
I get your explanation that this is implemented for the reason to trigger different story directions. But the way easier and not annoying method is rather simple. Dude beaten. Story goes into two directions. Which one you take?
You probably disagree but this timer needs to go.
I don't necessarily disagree but you kept on saying it serves no purpose and that's not true.
I do agree that they should at least show a timer. Again: Fights where you are being interruped after a while canonically are not meant to be won. So in a sense it's the same as surviving (it even says to survive the fight in the options sometimes).
Maybe this will get some sort of fix in the Day 1 patch
I sure hope so!
Another prime example of how this time limit thing is absolute garbage.
