I would like to see all the characters locked at the start so you have to earn them in game.
I might be getting too old but I remember back in the old Tenkaichi games where a lot of characters were locked and you had to unlock them in story mode. I would love this to be a feature again, just to give me a reward for completing story mode and beating all the challenges.

Anyone know if this will be implemented?

If everything is unlocked from the get go, it really dampers the desire to keep playing, imo. Drip feed it to me, by making me unlock all these guys. I will love that.

That’s literally the default for all fighting games. They have a set small amount of starter characters to fight with then you unlock the rest. Your post is basically “keep doing what you’re doing video game industry”

The games below have all characters unlocked from the start if I recall correctly.
Tekken 8, Tekken 7, Soul Caliber 6, Street Fighter 6, Dragonball Z Fighter

I hope it doesn't do what these more recent fighting games are doing. I think it's mostly for online competitive to keep it fair and so people can play their favourite character from the start, but I still want to earn my characters.

All of those games you listed in fact have unlockable characters via methods

DLC doesn't count and you know it doesn't. Stop grasping at straws, I just would like is all.

I have played those games and they do in fact have you unlock characters. And no I don’t mean DLC. It’s fine to be wrong but don’t turn being wrong into lying. Also it takes a quick Google search to show that I’m right

Why are you that way? Lol

Anyways you're not worth my time but feel free to list the characters you mentioned because I've played them and I'm telling you I am positive about Tekken 7, Street Fighter and 8 at the very least.

My point is that there is a chance they will all be unlocked from the start.

I don't get why you're like that, so rude and not a good person. Oh well. Good luck with life you will need it.

Lol pointing out where you’re wrong makes me a bad person? Sure. Have that backwards thinking if you want. That means that anyone that says differently to you is a bad person and you will only accept responses from people that agree with you. You do know that that makes you narcissistic, right?

i dont know what your deal is but take your own advice and do a google search those games have starters and unlocking like 2 or 3 characters is not what OP is talking about

He was talking about unlocking characters in general. The number of unlocks doesn’t matter. Also I have played the games he has mentioned and they do have in-game unlockables so my response is true

Dragon ball fighterZ allows you to unlock 3 characters, the rest are dlc which isn't what this game is doing and the the fighterZ unlocks are kinda mid
Anyway I'm assuming the OP means unlocking all 164 characters without paying and simply grinding.
In that case then yeah, we unlock all of them, the next Dlc will be with super hero and daima so we pay for those either at launch with deluxe or ultimate preorder or buy on release

The previous Dragon Ball games based on arena fights (Battle of Z and Xenoverse 1/2) remain like this, their characters are unlocked through the story mode, completing all their side missions and making wishes to Shenlong.

Yes, all of those games have almost all of their characters ready to use from the beginning. Although it must be clarified that you are taking as a basis games with totally different approaches, these that you mentioned are competitive 2D fighting games where the majority of their target players have not even touched nor will they touch the Story mode, the objective of these games is to always be in training mode and in competitive matches.

That makes sense, but even still half the XV roster is dlc.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Exactly! :) You and I have the exact same opinion.

Imagine having to an extremely hard fight to unlock the really popular characters like Broly. I remember I think it was budokai 3 where Broly was extremely hard to unlock.
