It would be nice if modders get official support like that. But the problem is they would 100% be held back by the publisher.

Capcom does it, Bandai Namco does to a limited extend, and Nintendo represents such an extreme degree of all of the above philosophies that it makes it hard to root for them.
Even Microsoft, a company that hates the concept of customization (hence why more Windows customization options get stripped away every year), at least supports things like a dedicated modding mode (disabled anti-cheat) and workshop for their current MCC ports of Halo. I feel like the difference is mostly cultural, because again, even the most anti-customization American companies have the courtesy to acknowledge the modding scene, which seems to never happen in Japan.
Companies love control and especially Japanese businessmen love the idea of control more than getting money. Microsoft is not all too different, but replaces the thirst for power with the thirst for money. So sometimes they allow some freedom here and there.
If that's such a dangerous legal situation, why are games with workshops full of licensed content all doing fine? The worst case is something like the Garry's Mod Nintendo scare, but that would require an extreme level of dedication on rights-holders' behalf. Actually, now that I think of it, this game becoming a sort of moddable meme fighting game (alongside any sort of discounts) would basically be the best-case scenario for player counts on Steam, with people playing a near-infinite amount of content with friends, for fun. Bandai Namco's dumb Japanese pride and console-first mentality would never let that happen, though.
"legal landmine". All they would do is a cease and desist. No company wants to go to court first step and especially not against another company. As a matter of fact, they are not even going against platforms such as Nexus Mods, despite it being the easiest to find.
"This game isn't good for workshop". Hard disagree. We already have amazing mods that add mixing characters, alternative costumes, optimisation, different shading styles, general balances around characters. This game needs a workshop and one that is compatible with multiplayer, so 2 players can play on the same mod.
Frankly, I don't know why you as a player would even care so deeply for a company's well-being, it does not really affect and it won't make the game you play better. It might even make it worse.
i like bamco's anime RPG's and i wanna see alot more of them cause they were all good till now.
don't really care about pvp stuff since they already proved they can't do it right.
i beleave the "best" pvp game they had was one piece burning blood and even that didn't make a big hit.
Why would you care so some big corporation that does not give a damn about you? lol.
And the "bug and crash" is not an argument. You choose the mods and the crashes happens when you overdo it, but that is on the player. That is also the the good thing about modding and player's choice, cause you are free to decide the fate of your game.
"Don't really care about the PvP stuff", well yes, this is the main issue here why we even want mods, cause they clearly have a lacking single-player mode. The Single-player does not even have proper cutscenes. The World Tournament mode is limited if ever and the there is no proper rewards. No customization. You do not care about the multiplayer mode and want only singe-player, while at the same time there being no proper single-player. There is nothing for you in the game therefore and yet you oppose the idea of player-created content for "the well-being" of the same company that gave you a lackluster overpriced $70+ game.
