Online play
So I don't have the game yet, I've been looking into some ranked fights for fun on YT and a lot of "players" pick characters like dbz broly cheese his armor and ulti, or yajirobe run and heal etc... I came to ask if this is mainly on ranked, and it is to be expected I guess, but is there a general fight to fun online mode? And are people less prone to cheese there? Thank you.

I have tons of fun online

I run
Videl > Caullifa > Kale > Krillin, before anyone starts whining I don't use after image strike unless you're UI or just cheesing tf outta, everything else is fair game lol

or Videl > Vegito > Burter > Krillin

I have like 90 fights on ranked DP and maybe 20ish of them have been cheesers. At least have of those cheesers I beat the brakes off with ki management/some gimmick they couldn't counter. Most cheesers cant actually play the game if you engage them passed their tomfoolery. At least 8+ cheesers have whooped my ass and thats not even factoring in rematches. And 2 out of those 90 matches have made me ragequit at least 3 just made me put the controller down and let them advance up to the A/Z rank so they can ruin that tier instead.

I have a lot of fun online. However, if you're bad at the game it will not be fun and I completely get why. That is not intending to be insulting either. There is just a large skill gap when it comes to player knowledge and receptiveness to gameplay that is seen pretty quickly online. Also sometimes the connection is just ass.

I mean I'm not great at fighting games, it is why I avoid MK even though I love the lore. Having said that the last game in the style of sparking that I played ranked on was Naruto something something 2 or 3, it was a big while ago. And I did alright, picked a close ranged character and found my strategies against the 3 main meta characters. So maybe I'll some fun here as well, might get by ass kicked more as this game has more in depth techniques.

There is no point of getting Sparking Zero to play online. You'll just be playing with the same people again and again.

This game now has from 1k to 4k at max players active :

https://steamdb.info/app/1790600/charts/

And it can get worse, it's been only a few months.

Unless, you planning to play it on PS5, but it's not worth PS+ subscription. Bandai still have not fixed a lot of problems in this game.

It is why I'm kinda on the back foot about buying it, the game is expensive + the music dlc's (which btw are BS should be a part of the game) and I played a lot of captain tsubasa and the time it took for action regarding balance and disconnect issues was almost a year...I don't want to do thought that again. I want to play it but at this price tag the online connectivity and balance issues worry me

Yep, this game is massively overpriced. Putting music in paid DLC was a scam from Bandai.

I bought it because I like Dragon Ball and it's hype, and back than when I bought it there were still more people active to play with. After only 2 months it's already almost dead.

I paid far less for Red Dead Redemption 2 and there are more players active on that game to play online. Not to mention that RDR2 has way more and better offline content.

I should have waited for a year and bought it on a big discount. This game is totally not worth it's current price. For that price there are good RPGs from which you can get far more.

Don't buy it for online use as you will want a refund after an hour.
You can't even find matches on PC

Just waited about 25 minutes to find an opponent on ranked, eventually gave up and closed the game.

If that is not working correctly ,assuming more than 10% of players are in some kind of shadow ban because of the communication error crashes. well, this patch is useless until they fix it. why should I care about in game tweaks if I can't even play? that's very idiotic.

Do not play the game for online you will have a miserable time, netcode is so bad even when I play with a friend who lives nearby.
