Not that I don't believe you, but proof or link?
"Ever since Sparking Zero was first revealed, fans have wondered whether it'd launch with crossplay, something that's only been detailed on the Japanese website and barely commented on in the months since. IIGN recently had the chance to speak with Sparking Zero's producer, Jun Furutani, where they asked him whether or not crossplay is going to be supported as they didn't believe it's "currently planned".
In response, Furutani (whose answer appears to have been translated) said that it's "very difficult" to explain and that the short answer is that there's a complicated process the team has to go through in order to have crossplay functionality in the game. This confirms once more that it's not going to be in Sparking Zero at launch, but it sounds like it might not be in at all.
One of those touchy subjects, that's very difficult for him to explain. The short professional answer is, yeah, there's a difficult that we have to go through to get cross play to work. - Jun Furutani
IGN's question also specified whether Sparking Zero could get crossplay as a post-launch update, which makes Furutani's answer seem like it's in response to that as well. While it definitely isn't in the game at launch, there is a small chance it gets added later on in Sparking Zero's lifetime, as Furutani says that it was "difficult" and not impossible."
Basically, I said it was in the works because other people on here said it was. But I was intentionally exaggerating my original comment because I already read all the articles about it. It hasn't been "denied" of the possibility, but based on the lead devs responses, it might as well have.
