Dragon Dash isn't working (keyboard)

I've been trying to get Dragon Dash ('F' key + up arrow key at same time) to work, but no matter what I do, it won't work. I've made sure both keys are working, I've tried using the number pad instead, I even tried using the 'W' key to see if maybe it'd work, but I've still seen no effective results. I'm stuck on the tutorial and I have no clue what I'm supposed to do.
