Question about items and customization
I've never played the previous Tenkaichi games but what are these items? People say that you will be able to equip certain gear, accessories and get like defense and attack boosts. So if I go into pvp and i'm just using the base character and somebody else is using all these items like the red potaras, won't i just get demolished because i'm in a direct disadvantage?

Skill needs to be involved too. No point in having all those items equipped if you don’t play the game well

Then do the 100% in solo first and then go in pvp after unlocking everything and mastering the game. If you go pvp day one don't complain that people who made the effort to unlock stuff have an advantage.

To start with, there are two different types of items. The first are visual items that changes the appearance, like the halo, and it only changes appearance.

The other type are not appearing on your character visually. It is made solely for giving you effects, from just boosting stats like health and damages, to special effects like reducing the opponent moving speed or reducing his ki. And it can be unique to a type of characters, like some items being only equipped by Cyborgs.

So considering the wide range of effects of these items, it can still change the tides of a battle unless there is a huge skill difference. As Hayato suggested above, it would be a good idea to start with the solo content to get some items first.

Although, there is an option for the online battle that disable custom characters, meaning you will only face people who are using characters without any items.

Normally its cosmetic items like "halo" just puts a halo on them, some of them are like "Goku type, Vegeta type ext." Which changed how the AI with that item behaves or small stat increases, or large stat increases with other stats being decreased essentially
