Difficulty is fine. Characters being unlocked is fine. The lackluster "story mode" shouldn't be excused just because it's been done in other games.
Will say, the only being able to split screen on just one map is straight bs and you can't convince me there's a good reason for it.
other than the fact the consoles holding the pc PORT back. remember this game was NOT made for pc, we merely got a port
for context we havnt had a game with this little content since Raging Blast. Which was a fun game btw, but that was 20 years ago. I think its reasonable to expect a game that costs $110 to have a bit more to do than the same fights we've been doing for 20 years.
The occassional branching paths are good but having only 2 or 3 is kind of insulting. they could've done so much more. the transformation transitions aren't fluid. the graphics don't know if they want to be disney or death note, even if the debris is very out of place. and for some reason teeth do not look like teeth, i keep thinking certain characters just have white splotches on their faces. theres also one scene with goku black where he has like, a sparkle on his face. for like, no reason. is there a star in front of him?
game has flaws lets not act like its perfect, thats totally disingenuous. it does feel like this game didn't know what it wanted to be, and it does feel like theres a surprising lack of content. it has less fights than BT3, the game its based on, at double the price and with decades of technology advancements over it.
and for the record, none of these issues will be fixed, because they aren't bugs, they are features. the only new content we will get is in the form of new characters, nova shenron, eis shenron, and probably some dragonball characters, maybe a crossover character or two. but you're playing yourself if you think its going to invent multiple new game modes--and if it did, that would be the bare minimum. that would bring it barely in line with games 20 years older than it.
they will bring in some random DLC characters to make a quick buck, characters that modders can do for free. maybe a new map. maybe a new song after a year or two. but this game isnt going to get a major overhaul, this is it, this is the game.
im obviously still going to play it, but that doesn't mean its worth $110 in 2024.
Good.
