Problems Already
1: When you are trying to go through alternate story routes, some of them require you to fulfill certain conditions (like Fused Zamasu beating both Goku and Vegeta in a certain time). However, very annoyingly, you DONT get the ability to retry the level if you fail, you just have to go back to the timeline menu and try again after skipping like 4 cut scenes every single time.

2: Characters are WILDLY disappointing. The art and power of these abilities is worth being commented on as extremely beautiful, HOWEVER. That does not change the stupid fact that each character ONLY gets 2 moves and a ult. And in some cases they get completely screwed over by how much the game favors abilities that track your enemy (or ki based attacks). This is a SEVERE downgrade from the last game and other games like it.

3: The horrible balancing between Ki and Physical attacks. You are just better off spamming ki attacks or hoping that your opponent or AI doesn't counter you into high heaven when you go in for hand to hand fighting. Any attack that requires you to dash is going to miss 99% of the time due to the VERY narrow hitbox on 90% of them (which most characters have at least 1 or 2 of). So you either have to be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ champion of fighting games in order to work with this or you just have to abuse the broken system.

4: The AI is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ merciless. Even on the lower difficulty you will still get countered to high hell if the game lets the AI do it. The button reading is insane, and the reaction times on these bots is absolutely inhuman beyond reason. There have been times I've used abilities point black in the face of the enemy only to have the AI slap it away instantly. Like ffs, if I'm tired of getting beaten into a bloody wall and I want to just progress to the next stage to try a different fight, I shouldn't have to face the EXACT SAME level of BS from the AI.

5: WHY DOES SUCCEEDING IN A CLASH STUN YOU FOR LIKE 5 SECONDS? WHY? Who the hell thought that was a good mechanic?

For a game that is so inspired around having SO many moves and so many ways to fight in combat, this game is hellbent on forcing you into only one type of fighting style and it sucks.

#1 and #4 are my biggest issues with the game. Glad to see others pointing out the latter. I forgot about the term button/input reading and yeah there's exactly a lot of that going on. Sometimes it feels like they're specifically programmed to not take certain attacks. Like I tried to hit Vegeta with the spirit bomb 4 times before it finally hit. That's absolutely absurd. Happened at any range or circumstance.

They will counter you until your hands fall off at times. In the Goku Black storyline where you have to fight against Vegito (which I have yet to beat because I gave up from how obscenely difficult it was), I was able to chain together 7 consecutive vanishing counters back and forth in the 2-3 seconds it takes to do that before finally messing up the timing. WHY IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!? If that was somehow just a one off anomaly it'd be one thing, but we had like half a dozen 3-5 vanish chains in the same damn fight. It's too friggin much.

Meanwhile when you play in a regular CPU fight with your own teams and whatnot it seems the game remembers how it's supposed to be and swings the difficulty so far in the other direction I almost thought something broke cause of how I was able to literally stand in front of it doing nothing at times if I wanted to (and then other times it'd go ham on me for like 10 seconds before going back to brain dead).

yeaaah. The amount of input reading can be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insane sometimes.
Like its bad that the only way to hit some of these attacks is to make sure that your opponent is at 0 sp before blasting them so they cant dodge or bs their way out if it, then you just chain powering up and blasting until the fight ends.

ALSO.

why the hell does clashing leave you stunned for a few seconds after you succeed? Like WTF is that even a mechanic?

theirs a few issues for sure like how I use kaioken rush or any equivalent type of attack and I litterally go through my opponent over n over and sometimes the cpu is on god mode aka can't take damage wtf is that? I hit vegeta with my spirit bomb 5 times animation activates but he took 0 damage

As someone with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of experience on Tenkaichi games and stomping the game, I don't understand the struggle here. Why are you complaining when you've got no experience whatsoever in the game ? It's been out for a few hours. You'll get good, learn melee combos and basic game mechanics. Spamming Ki attacks is not the way here, trust me.

Honestly, I thought I was just bad at the game because I was just playing story mode the whole time. But when I jumped online, I realized that the AI was just cheating and that REAL people that you play with aren't countering so efficiently all the time and felt like better fighting. It honestly made me happy lmfao. I'm not mad at that to be honest because the AI in the storyline is a good way to train and get you better at the game so it's whatever to me.

Rush supers were apparently so good they had to gut whatever tracking they had. Ngl though, it ain't that big a deal cuz it's relatively easy to combo into them. Biggest gripe I have about the combat though is how combos make no rhyme or sense. Some rush combos you'd think would land, but for some reason opponent gets free mid combo. But other times you're screwed.

Against large characters with super armor : Charge to the max => Go melee => Combo him it'll stunlock him and bypass the super armor. Try it and thank me. There's no need for any Ki based attacks.

i beating him without using ki attacks ability.

i only did dodge to left or right when he wants to grab you or want to use beams. i just hit him from the back or after i dodged while he is in animation. you can use kaioken meanwhile as well. its just takes some effort i did get a lot of defeat because of me dont know how to approach. even the flash ability didnt work i was in front of him lol.

Spamming ki from a distance is not the only way to beat a great ape. You can get behind him & use melee too. From the front giant characters have too much of an advantage, so you need to fight differently. Wild to see people think spamming ki is the only way to go just because they died a few times.

You're stunned after a clash because you're using the charge mechanic, that uses up more KI and exhausts your character, so even if you do win you'll take a toll. It's pretty much a gamble move, if you can't afford to lose the clash, use it, if you're sure you'll kill if you win, use it. That's how i see it. Pretty accurate to Dragon Ball tbh

I need an urgent explanation for #5. Seriously, it can't be something they decided to do because now when I have beam clashes I have to think if it will be better for me to lose it just so that I don't get 7-8 secs of stun for winning it.

Are you using boost? I have not had this happen and the only think I can think of is you running out of ki due to using boost.
Kashra Fall Oct 8, 2024 @ 11:27am
Succeeding in a clash doesn't stun you for 5 seconds. If you hit "Boost" you put ki into it. If you go out of ki (Into the red.) you effectively run out of stamina and have to regain your ki, which comes back pretty slowly. No amount of getting hit makes it go up faster either, so you need to balance boosting, with playing the QTE.
