Can't "shake off brainwashing"

So I am currently cruising through Vegeta's episodes to get all of the what-if scenes with him, and I'm not getting any dialogue option to shake off the brainwashing. I have gone through the cutscene multiple times, slowly, no skipping, and I'm not even getting an option to shake it off or allow him to take control. Am I missing something? Do I need to finish Buu saga on Gohan/Goku first? Not sure what I'm missing here.

having the exact same issue, probably bugged or you need to have some other story thing done for it I'm guessing. Let me know if you find a fix

You have to do the alternative objective in the kid trunks fight before it

guys you need to beat kid trunks so fast and without recieve so much damage. If u do it correctly, they will both appear on base form and vegeta will take trunks to the park.
Then the option to shake of brainwashing will appear

I would've loved to know that but for some reason i did not have a branching timeline in that mission... I guess you could press option and check battle details to check for alternate objectives if you beat a fight once before.

Yeah I don't know how people are getting this. I've beaten him in under a minute only getting hit once or twice and still nothing.

Edit: Figuted it out, have to knock him back and go sparking as soon as its available then hit with the ult. Just have to use Cosmic Barrage before you pass 40 seconds.

I had the same issue, i did it by going back to android 18 fight to beat her quickly without taking much damage, then i got the choice. I don't know exactly if it's the fix

It seems that some missions have 2 versions, and for some reason the game only loads one version, even if you fulfilled the conditions for the second version. This also happens with Jiren's final battle - there are two versions of the same fight.

In Jiren's case, you need to go back to the initial choice (deal with Kale or wait and see), choose the second option, start the fight against Master Roshi, then Quit and select Jiren's final battle again.

Maybe the same oversight is present in Vegeta's story? Anyway, to see if a fight has two versions or opponents, choose Details while the cursor is on top of the desired space, and use R1/L1 to change pages. If there's more than 1 page, the fight either has more than 1 opponent or more than 1 version.
