Does a ps5 controller work on steam/windows?

Ive heard people say ps5 controllers dont work on computers but i need to know before i buy a controller

PS5 controllers do work on laptops through bluetooth I know because I used/use a dark blue one one for Tekken 8

They do work, i have always used my ps5 controller to play games on PC, all you do is plug it or use bluetooth if your computer has bluetooth.

i use the program DS4 for windows, it detects my PS5 controller. you can also use steam big picture mode as well

Steam and some games are compatible. If not, you can use DS4Windows and enable the Dualsense option. Some games like the Sony games detects Dualsense as Dualshock 4 if you connect using bluetooth, in that case, you may need to conect using USB,
