Considering I own a 2000 dollar PC, I will be playing with an xbox controller because I'm not poor enough to have a PS5 or actual XBOX, just an XBOX controller for halo games.

you don't need to own either of those, all you need as a pc gamer is keyboard, mouse and xbox controller(360 or preferred xbox one controller) since they work natively on any windows OS without having to go through small hoops. (small hoops if you play without steam)
