I bought the basic version and now I want to buy the Ultimate version.

I made the mistake months ago, I bought the normal version instead of the deluxe/Ultimate version.
I need help figuring out that if I buy the Ultimate and ask for a refund on my basic one will it refund both items? Since their the same game, and does anyone know if I get my refund after the game has released or sometime this week(example)

Just refund the game you have preordered now and then get the edition you want

You could try and refund it but you might be able to upgrade to the Ultimate edition once the game releases.

try to refund the basic version and if it works then buy the ultimate edition if it doesnt you will either need to buy the ultimate edition anyways or just wait to the buy the dlc when they release

I don't think it would even let you buy any editions for yourself unless you refund the game first. Though unless you want the early access then you'll most likely be able to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition post launch.

Edit: Also are you sure you mistakenly bought the basic because the only place you can see if it's basic or the Deluxe/Ultimate is in Steam purchase history?

Upgrade as in once the early access launch, And Steam just automatically cut the price to just the incentives in the cart?

I thought of that but I’m trying to find a person who has done this kind of situation before, The terms and rules for refund is not clear to me tbh.

Yep it’s the basic, also the Mistake being is not that I accidentally press. It’s more of a should have kind of mistake.

Technically it won't be the Ultimate edition but most likely they will sell the Season pass as well as the Ultimate Edition content as DLC post release though they might be end up costing more than the bundled versions.

This is mostly a educated guest based on what usually happens, so I could end up being wrong. Also, likely it won't show the DLC until the full release.

Then refunding and buying the Deluxe/Ultimate edition is the choice for you, it's the only way to get the Early Access.
