What's so special about it?

The gameplay looks the same as in Xenoverse and Kakarot, minus the exploration.
The Menus and character select screens look like it's fan made in Unreal.
I've played both trilogies, Budokai and Budokai Tenkaichi back on my PS2
(Yes, even Sagas and Infinite World),
the Main Menu was always fun, you had those fun narrators, you had Chichi telling you about the characters bio, and all those tiny details that made the game look full.
This one kinda feels empty. (I know it's still WIP)
Granted, the graphics and UI do look great ngl, i love the 2D/Sprite auras
and the animations do look really nice.

I feel it's just blind nostalgia because we finally got a new Tenakaichi game,
but with Super characters.
But i bet we'll also lose a lot of those unimportant characters like Kid Chichi,
Frieza's soldiers and others in that category.
This feels like those ''can't wait to get another iPhone'' type of memes,
or another Fifa game, it's the same but shinier ._.


I don't wanna sound like an a55,
i'm really just curious what makes this game special compared to others?

Heck, what makes special compared to the original trilogy?
Each sequel had a new feature or gimmick.
Maybe i've missed an interview or something,
or maybe i've just lost my spark (lol) for Dragon Ball...

Yes, i feel you. I'm one of them too.
But this feels like a downgrade.

Look at Crash Bandicoot or Mega Man, it's been way too long since the original games,
and then we got Crash Bandicoot 4 and Mega Man 11, and these games keep the original feel but with new (or in this context, ''special'') features,
while it still feels like playing the original games. You get me?

How am i asking for the world?
They're a huge studio, yet it seems like a downgrade from the last Tenkaichi
(if we don't look at the graphics.)

My expectations are ''at least like the last one'',
and not paying 70 bucks for something less...
It's easy to cash in on blind nostalgia with those rose tinted goggles.

Again, Crash and Mega Man didn't really add much,
but they've added enough so it doesn't feel like a downgrade,
or like that you're paying for the same product at an even higher price.

Listen, i like Dragon Ball a lot, i've watched it since the 90s, i've read the manga,
i got merch, even the real 4 Star ball, i got DBZ tattoos, i made a lot of DBZ fan art, i've played almost all of the DB games that exsist, i love this series.

I am not one to assume, but dare i assume this time that you sound really young.
You gotta learn to take criticism.
Just because you like something, doesn't mean it's perfect,
you have to learn to see the flaws in things that you like,
it makes you grow as a person and it ironically makes you like that thing or person,
even more.

But that's off topic now.

TLDR: Game is the same, but cost more and gives you less content.
It's nice that there's a ''PC port'', but they could've remastered the original Trilogy,
ported it to the new gens and PC, and it would feel even better because the expectations would be the same.

As I said earlier, you're free to skip this game, i garantee you, NOBODY here will miss you.

If you're getting so mad you can't even find a single positive i'll just randomly say 3: more chars and better combat and better moves, with lots of old generic moves replaced with unique ones, and I could keep on going for quite a bit.

Will you care about any of that? NO

This is exactly what was bugging me besides what everyone else is pointing out but I just couldn't put into words. There's no appeal or style in the UI, everything is too bland. This gives a game its own identity but they're fumbling hard from what I can see.
