The movies have been in the Sparking! series before but aren't canon.

Though honestly the canon debate is just a stupid thing.

It's astonishing and embarrassing that people even struggle with it. Nobody argues when someone says the Spider-Man comics in the early 60s are canon and the Sam Raimi films aren't. I don't know what makes Dragon Ball any different. Actually, I do, I just don't want to ramble because I do enough rambling as it is.

More on topic, GT will never be canon but will never NOT be recognized. It is what it is: Toei's attempt at keeping business rolling after the original source got sick of being the original source. Anything anyone brings up to DEBATE over that is just trying to share their favorite way to look at the franchise - which is all good and well, but not something to assert.

It is fictional and a waste of time an energy arguing as to what is 'canon' vs what is not.
What should be done by rational humans is
A. Enjoy the franchise
B. Don't

Solid! :steamhappy:

I would make the case that specifically worrying about canon is the issue, though, under the grounds that recognizing the original content as it was created by the original author is a form of respect as well as more focused on the essences of the experience. While it's true that a burger's a burger, a burger from mcdonald's doesn't begin to compete with a burger from Red Robin, which doesn't approach the $40+ burgers out there. It's respectful to recognize who started it and what their vision of it was, but it's also not disrespectful to recognize creative liberties.

What's disrespectful is dedicating oneself to canon and non-canon like it's some sacred text and any add-ons are just different denominations. It becomes a cult of morons at that point. lmao
