Realigning yourself during ki blast spam when they are in sparking mode

I noticed sparking mode lovers have a tendency to circle around you when spamming ki blasts before using their ultimate. and sometimes when you're deflecting the ki blasts, the game locks you in that animation and they use that to exploit you and use their ultimates.

to my understanding, auto guard automatically realigns you as long as you're holding block, meaning it prevents enemies from circling around you, but when your character starts deflecting, theres nothing you can do coz auto guard will stay on deflect mode.

with auto guard turned off, you can actually hold Down or Back and Block and your character will realign themselves to prevent the enemy from flanking with ki blasts. and also you can easily cancel deflect just by holding block with no movement input, then hold back/down while your character is guarding. this also makes it easier to dodge unblockable ultimates. but while deflecting, i noticed its harder.
