custom battles is pretty much bandai saying " pay me 70 euros so you make the single player content for each other because were too lazy to put any effort into single player content in a 2024 fighting game and franchise thats known for couch gaming"
If you have the extra cash then it's good for a time
SZ is less redundant then BT1-3, where you would have 20 beam struggles a match, etc. Although it still just ends up devolving into mini games or setting up a special. Not a lot of character archetypes, only one really.
It's best to play with people you know, that also plays casually and gets it's supposed to just be fun and mindless.
This^
With the addition that the inputs don't register often and for some reason when online your framerate is tethered to your opponents connection and framerate. So even if you're running at 60 fps if your opponent is running at 30 with dips you'll be experience the game as if you're skipping frames. The online is abysmal.
The game is 80% online play with terrible online.
