-Peoples attention span. Social media has successfully given most brain rot.
-Japanese devs are notoriously unresponsive, don't listen to ♥♥♥♥ all and do whatever they want.
-The past decade of gaming has had curated matchmakers to help timmy and kyle have a good time. This isn't present, at all. You can keep getting matched against the same UI goku who's actually good at the game dumpstering your face.
It's a fairly steep drop no matter how you look at it. These days the games success hinges on retaining players so they spend more money on the game. While it won't ruin my fun, it is a valid POV.
You really dont have nothing better to do other than looks for stats? Sad.
Most players looking at playercount are vultures, they do nothing to help it themselves but have no problem whining about it on discussion boards
This leaves only ranked play, but it is sadly plagued with a boring meta. Only a small amount of characters in the roster are viable in singles and DP. Most people seem to be blaming other players for this, but I can kinda understand that losing against people with worse skill but stronger character(s) gets old fast.
I'm sure if the devs would be more active trying to balance characters and abilities so a larger amount of the roster would be viable would've been a huge help in keeping the game alive, but as someone else mentioned in this thread, Japanese devs are notoriously slow at this. Beside the already stale meta, I'm sure most people have a limit for the amount of RQ they can tolerate.
The developers probably don't even care too much since the game has zero mtx. Having a bigger active playerbase would mean more DLC sales in the future, but also higher upkeep for servers.
This game is not Xenoverse, its Budokai, so go away with balance ideas, no fan od budokai wants them. And Devas knew it . In this game will be better and weaker characters and its ok, if you dont like it go and play something else.
Back to topic.
Problem are bugs, bad searching matches, auto assists always active in onlin mode and cheaters.
I haven't noticed any bugs or cheaters whatsoever. The stuff you are complaining about is such a non-issue and would never explain the massive drop in player count. Grow up and learn to analyze things before you think about touching a keyboard.
