Updated Communication Error MEGA THREAD
Hello,

Hello, I think its time to fully update this thread; This is the Megathread combining as much stuff as I can put in here.

**** The Overall Problem
The communication error occurs right after dialogues, and at any time in match (mid match). There is clearly no fix for this as this thread has received tons of attention and its to the thanks of all of you pushing the thread with tons of comments (I did read most of them).

We know this game is made and published by Bandai/Spike Chunsoft which made Jumpforce. Most anime games are not made to function online, which is the unfortunate part because the game has suffered through comm errors, rage quitting, disconnects.
Communication error players have no idea they are being penalized for disconnecting because the game does not differentiate

There is a chance that this won’t be fixed for everyone as they do only mention 24h2 with different OS’ – It affects Windows 10, 11 (23h2 and 24h2), linux, steam deck, ps5 and xbox, legit all systems.

**** Why does the communication error affect you**** - Users with no problems.

1) There are instances where frame capping yourself to 30 fps and lower has given people a chance to play online, and if you know how fighting games operate this means that you will have to equilibrate to their FRAMES. This means you will have 30 FPS, and you will enjoy your slideshow because the game dev's choose not to fix their game.

2) There are clear disconnections that suggest the player rage quits but I’m not convinced this is the case as the error code in brackets shares the same code as the communication error code – Simply ALT F4 can not represent 5 different codes assuming these error codes have any meaning at all.

Example – Communication error has occurred (379BA70D) / Connection to opponent lost (379BA70D) and this error code is also shared on ps5.

Communication error Codes - Steam Thread

https://steamcommunity.com/app/1790600/discussions/0/4702413966613185443/

The list of communication error codes can be found in this steam thread which i believe does a good job covering them (this will not fix them as it suggests).

3) The player count has RAPIDLY decreased since then, and if you want a functioning ranked queue system on steam knowing they are not adding Crossplay anytime soon or at all; then you should care about the player count.

**** Fixes that exist for you as a communication error player
There are some things you can do to maybe help your circumstances; some are crazier than others but hopefully this is useful.
1) If your game has recently stopped working, check your windows updates to make sure you did not randomly update to 24h2.

In the search bar type run -> than winver (This will show you your windows version).
If you’re on 24h2 – type windows update into the search bar, and check your update history, and hopefully you caught it within 10 days to revert.

2) If you are on 24h2 and are willing to revert to 23h2 this is a chance of working and not guaranteed. The only way this is a guaranteed fix is if your game worked before, and you missed the option to revert.

3) Updating your bios is wild and should not be touched by users who have no idea what they are doing.

4) Most fixes on steam do not work. If you have the communication error, you can play online if certain criteria are met. – If you and your opponent are on the same operating system sharing the exact same error you can play online for hours. This means that a mid match DC most likely can’t match with an Intro match DC. This also likely means that your error codes need to match as well.

**** The December Patch
There was a google document running around and apparently it highly influenced Bandai’s/Spike Chunsofts decision to make specific changes to the game. These changes were made by the Players who left us out of the picture because they deemed our problem to not be large enough.

The tweet showing they seemed to cover most if not all the red changes in the document - https://imgur.com/a/sPXlgb5

In case this gets updated or changed I will show you an image of ctrl + f and the date today to make sure they don’t just throw this in:

They also did not include most control bugs, and the save bug which has affected tons of players.

This is the reason why your penalty is now permanent as they chose to increase the penalties in November for disconnections in order to improve the game for players who could play. You can get around this by transferring your save file to a family share account when the problem does get fixed.

The ultimate message at the end of the day is the players literally screwed over innocent players in the thousands, and they ignored all of you. These players are now the same people saying the game is saved and looking at the game in a one directional lens that is going to kill the game faster than anything else could.

They have addressed the issue recently in the steam patch notes, but they also have addressed this issue back in october along side the save data feature. They knew about the comm error back in october, me and 10 other guys figured out windows compatibility in like 2-4 weeks of the games release and its taken 3 months for bandai to address what the issue even is.

Source : https://imgur.com/a/1rgREeE DB Games tweet October 24th after the patch in october.

**** Next Patch – January / February
If this next patch leaves anyone out or does not address this issue. I will be refunding this game with all the proof I have, and not playing basically since the week of the 10th of October. I have saved a lot of information that I don’t think steam will deny. If this works, I will share this with you, as you deserve to have your money back if you decide to choose this path.

**** Ending Credits

Keep up the pressure, start re-sending more tickets to Bandai showing them your VERY angry that they chose players who could play over players who could not for 2.5 months…… and now it will be 3.5-5 months before this is fixed.

Remember to go to the Bandai store page, report the game, report the company as broken.

I'm wondering if it's a motherboard issue. Someone had brought that up in another thread that seemed to be a common trend when people were mentioning their rigs. I'm running on a old Gigabyte motherboard that has no bios update for it's version.

It's a mixed bag from linux to windows, but it's not a hardware issue. It's a netcode issue.

If you can't get a match completed because of win11 24h2, it's different from being unable to connect after the match start cutscene.

Ah, yeah I have the latter issue. Well it's good to know I won't have to finance for a new rig so soon, but disheartening given the OP's statement about this happening with Jumpforce and potentially never being able to play SZ online

I played on Steam as the game came out, never had an issue. I jumped to PS5 just for convenience.

Came back today to play with a friend on Steam and I found this happening to me. Can't find a ranked match online, when we play in a lobby it will kick me out. I know my connection is great and the game is running so smooth.

Ranked is the only reason why I play this game...
