I currently have a low tier 10 bucks Gamepad and it also works perfectly fine.
Its more of a question if you like symetric analog sticks (like a PS Controller) vs asymetrical( like XBox, total garbadge IMO, but everyone has different taste).
This controller is really well built but the input latency is too high for fighting games from my experience.
If you like having your controller wired yeah.
My recommendation would be the Big Big Won Blitz 2 TMR or the 8Bitdo ultimate 2c for this game specifically. For a good all rounder the Xbox series controller solely because of the godtier dpad and approx 2.5-5ms of latency with the xbox adapter is really hard to beat. Unless you get the aforementioned controllers.
You can compare pretty much all good gamepads youself as well on https://gamepadla.com/
I will say though for whatever reason the xbox controllers have a harder time hitting consistent super counters. I think this has to do with a discrepancy between the stick and button input latencies.
