Kai is literally just Z with the filler cut out you fake fan. The dialogue is faithful to the series, try actually watching it or reading the manga.

Play Burter so you can hear me call you a dumbass.

There’s a reason I turn to Abridged when want to rewatch core of Z(all downhill after Cell far as concerned anyways, that’s a perfect ending).

It’s anime dubbed by and for NA kiddos in the 90’s. Ofc it’s corny. Always was.

The translation is pretty bad, but Dragon Ball games have almost always had bad translations, on account of Bamco having terrible quality control, and Crunchyroll/Funimation being actively contemptful of the source material.

The writing itself is mostly the same, aside from the DBS content, which mostly pulls from the anime, unfortunately.
Dragonball was always corny, even before Z.

ANIME IS CORNY. Japanese culture and mannerisms don't always translate well over to the west. That being said I have over 110 animes from 1965 - 2022 torrented on my media hard drive. I feel very comfortable sayin anime is corny af and that the tale end of Gen Z and the kids in Gen Alpha have made it popular.

For context I was born in 1997, when I was growing up anime was still geeky and it's because of how corny it came off to people subbed or dubbed.

bro you cant call something corny just cause it wasnt made for your country
Kai is the best version if Z,
If you don't think so, watch Z Frieza saga, then watch Kai Frieza saga. Worlds apart.
Also make sure you watch Kai with the Yamamotto music score

Yes I can? That's called cultural diffusion kid. It's the same way someone could call how American students dress "lazy" because American's are not from their country. Welcome to living in a globalized society kid, it's been like that the last 70 years.
If anime wasn't corny it would have been popular in the states in the 90s and early 2000s when people were renting shows and OVAs VHS

A great example of corniness in anime is humor. There are aspects of American and Japanese humor that do not translate well and vice versa. If the dialogue is not reworked for the audience whether it be subbed or dubbed it comes off as stiff or awkward.

An even better example of corn in anime is the entire genre of Shonen. "If you die, I'll kill you" is such a dumb quip you hear in alot of Shonen or fighter/boy saves the world style animes. Someone can get slammed into a wall and they're all normal humans and after leaving their body imprinted in concrete they'll go "now this is getting interesting". Not to mention every dark and mysterious Hiei/Sasuke type character. I can go on forever about the tropes and cliches.

Let's ignore humor and dialogue for a second and talk about the long drawn out monologues that interrupt fights or actual exposition make things way more melodramatic. The power of friendship has fatigued the hell out of longtime viewers like myself. The fakeout deaths or death having no real consequences is also another issue with the melodrama. I was watching JJK for the first time after a student suggested it (I teach middleschoolers) and rolled my eyes when the protag "died". It's like watching The Walking Dead when I watch animes with deaths, 75% of the time they return on screen and you know who WILL die because they have less dialogue all of a sudden if any ever at all.

My final example is the older woman bullying the smaller young boy trope using her voluptuos body. FLCL is a masterpiece, but wow those scenes are annoying, someone took that entire concept and the idea of yuri made stuff like Highschool of the Dead which is horny jail coomer corny.

All of the issues I talked about can be found in the most popular animes of all time:
FLCL, Highschool of the Dead, Ouran High School Host Club, Sword Art Online, Fruits Basket, Attack on Titan, Vampire Knight, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Tenchi Muyo!, Love HinaDragon Ball Z, Bleach, Naruto, Fairy Tail, One Piece, Inuyasha, Black Clover, Tokyo Ghoul, Blue Exorcist, Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, Sailor Moon, Clannad, Toradora!, Re, Elfen Lied, K-On!, Akame ga Kill!, Sword of the Stranger, Cowboy Bebop. (ALL OF THESE ANIME ARE GOOD, OFC DEATH NOTE OR AOT ISNT CORNY BUT DRIVES HOME THE POINT I AM TRYING TO MAKE THAT THESE ISSUES EXISTS IN ALL ANIME FRANCHISES SOME ARE JUST WAAAAAAAAY WORSE THAN OTHERS)

Bro I love anime, but it is cringey at times and just a corny genre of media when Western audience are more used to grounded traditional narrative storytelling, which is why stuff like Cowboy Bebop is a masterpiece regardless of Western or Eastern audience, it doesn't dwell on those tropes and cliches and is incredibly "grounded". You watch and learn how the characters motivations, internal conflicts and emotions change without a character quite literally explaining it to the viewer. Paprika is another more advanced example of that/
