The story people don't hear, is Tenkaichi was originally panned by people who loved Budokai. As it oversimplified the game, and made it into this mini-game centric concept.
It looks great, but anyone who has heard the sound of the remote of more then one person in the room, knows the synchronized sound. As both people try to out "rock" the other's "paper."
Compare that to say, Xenoverse 2. Which has numerous combos and characters don't all share the same "set up" string like they do in Sparkling Zero (everything is meant to set up to one of the mini games.) Which is fun, but made most everyone the same type of fighter.
Where in say, Xenoverse 2. The base Videl to the SDB version don't just gave different looking combo strings, their combos do different things.
Base Videl is a set up to special with these longer winded strings and a superhero look to the attacks.
while SDB is a better hand-to-hand and has skils that work with the combos, and those combos are this gymnastic style that works different and looks very different from base Videl.....and that is just a side character's example.
