What is Boost?

I played through training with piccolo but I dont remember it being mentioned. When you perform specials, you get to 'boost' it but what does it do? Also i see it when you clash.

More damage at the cost of using more ki. You can also do it when low on ki but it then eats into your ki in a negative way and you can't do anything until you recover.

What happens when you boost during a clash, just more damage or more chance of winning it?

it uses your ki to giveu better chance at winning but if uhave no ki it will use up your phyical ki bar meaning if u do win or lose u will be unable to move and your character is tired so if ur gonna boost make sure u have ki it dont make udo more damage it just helps u win the clash some times if your opponent snt better

So, I was trying to figure this out in training mode with various build.
When you Boost an Ultimate, it does 30% extra damage. This is massive.
However, when I equipped any item that increased my ultimates damage, the option to Boost was never present. I won't say with certainty that they are related, but that was my experience.

If this is a true link, its really dumb, because the 30% boost is more than any equip item you could pick, that means you're literally nerfing yourself if you equip an item to 'raise your damage'.
