I play the game to have fun, I'd rather not have to go all-out desperate every fight lmao.
If you are playing ranked then you really should not cry, its called RANKED for a reason.
Just because it's ranked doesn't mean you have to main and spam the cheesiest mechanics over and over and over. Honestly more than 50% of my fights basically just consist of people trying to do the same dragon dash to backshot combo / follow up over and over and over. Which means now I'm just side stepping left, over and over and over and over. Nobody even uses dragon dash normal attacks and come from the front.. they're all just desperate for the rear combo where they get a ton of cheap hits in and players can't do anything at all for a good few seconds until the follow ups start. I notice that 9/10 of these dragon dash combo spammers aren't capable of countering your counters.. so either you catch the second window to side step out of the way of the dragon dash, or you have to take the hit (the slightest lag at all makes it impossible to dodge at first range) and wait for them to do the follow up and counter.
Combine this with the fact that they're using some form of SSG4 or UI Goku and these matches just become boring af. All you're doing is countering the same single move, over and over and having to whittle down their huge health bars. It's a chore to fight these types of players and given that there's no real reward for playing ranked or ranking up, other than getting to face harder opponents, what's the point in playing in such an unfun manner? Surely it can't be fun just watching the exact same animation, 5-10 times per fight, every single fight..?
Now that I've realised how to counter it with the left sidestep/dodge, more than half of my games consist of ME having to do the exact same combo/variation of "dodge left, attack them". My new favourite thing to do is save a Super to hit them with on their final dragon dash but I'm sure that will get boring soon.
The best matches are when you fight someone who's maining a DP3 character and they absolutely demolish you with moves you've never seen before, where you're actually sitting there like "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was a cool fight" even though you didn't even manage to take away one of their hp bars. Meanwhile when you get an "Epic matchup" against high rank UI Goku, you expect some crazy moves and skill but nope, it's just dragon dash back shots simulator but with a spongier enemy.
It's actually insane how weak players are in fighting games shown by how many resort to being slaves to the meta or having to exploit the cheapest moves to get by, rather than working on developing their own signature style or skills. Mastering / maining the cheesiest mechanic until you're so good at it most fights are easy isn't a flex, it just makes nobody want to rematch or play with you again.
I'll still rematch a skillful Master Roshi that kicks my ass 3 times in a row when I'm playing as SS3 Goku but there's no way I'm interested in rematching someone who's matches consist of them just using or trying to use dragon dash rear combo for 90% of the time.
You never had a fun match where you think it would be fun to go again? Or where it's very close and you can do best of 3? Or do you sweat so hard that nobody wants to rematch with you or when you lose you're so angry that you don't want to rematch them? Lol
But I sorta have to just block and counter most of the time with DP 2 and 3 characters. Jeice's sparking move with Burter is oddly powerful though for DP 3 now that I think about it.
Haha well said... one thing i've also thinking is that some new mechanics of this game are really annoying. Too much spamming of that square+cross attack that teleports and the parry it's just spammable as heck. It's kinda annoying to be honest, i'm feeling that the new things are a little annoying.
