Defensive measures just feel like they dont work
Yea yea i can already envision what the comments are gonna be, "skill issue" yes i know, this is my first budokai style game ive played so this is my first taste, but genuinely how do i break out of an AI combo when im getting pummeled in the back, i am trying to do any kind of counter but it just does not work

The only surefire way to get out is throw the perfect counter or whatever it's called.
You do this counter by pressing forward (up) + punch just as an attack is about to (basically hits) hit you.
The timing is tricky, but you can get out of combos even when backturned through this.

Some characters also have a "get off me" move, like a ki blast and stuff like that. This usually costs skill points.

what you are looking for is a "super counter" which is either up + square or up+X depending on if you are using xbox vs playstation controller.

The major problem with this game is that there are 5ish counters for the front and only one for the back.
