Episode Mode Goku Saga Glitched

I am having this issue with Goku Saga Chapter 3 on the Hyperbolic Time Chamber Episode. You are given the dialogue to choose between helping piccolo or waiting for Veg and Trunks to get out. My first choice was to go help Piccolo. Since then, every time I go back to revisit that episode, if I choose to wait for Veg and Trunks to leave, it brings me all the way to the Episode The Cell Games Begin! If I look back at the map, all of the levels/missions on the previous island are locked.

Even winning this fight (Let the Cell Games Begin!) I only get moved onto the next dialogue level called "Homecoming." The next level won't unlock for me?

Also, when I choose to help piccolo, I fight cell and get solar flashed for the secondary objective, but the next level after that won't unlock either.

Is anyone else having these problems? Am I doing something wrong? Does Goku's saga usually go straight from The Hyperbolic Time Chamber to The Cell Games Begin? Please, any and all advice would be appreciated.

having a similar problem with changing the future, i beat cell without him using solar flare and i still advance normally

When you go to the The Hyperbolic Time Chamber episode, and choose to wait for Veg and Trunks, what is the next episode you get to play called? For me it is only The Cell Games Begin. Are there levels before that? And then when I beat The Cell Games Begin I only get the Homecoming cinematic afterward. Same thing?

That's how its supposed to go, if you wait for Vegeta (meaning following the story normally)
Goku doesn't fight anyone else until he fights Cell in the Cell Games. He never fights 17 and 18 and he never fights Cell before the tournament.
All the other locked stages you see in between are for episode for when you are doing story mode as other characters.

If you set the cursor on top of one of those locked stages, you can see on the top left which character's story mode that stage is for.

Also, if you are killing Cell, you are going into another "What if" that ends right there with a little cutscene.
Remember Gohan is the one that is supposed to kill Cell, so you have to avoid killing him and just fight him and survive until Goku gives up the battle.
