I don't get combo switching at all

Input supposedly is X X X <-+X (XBOX Glyphs)
But for the life of me, i have no clue how to chain the switch into the rush combo.
The team widget only pops up way after the rush combo was dropped, so pressing <-+X just results in the rush combo getting extended.
What am i missing here?

Not sure how they want you to time it because the switch window doesn't pop up for a while.

The switch window is bugged to only appear when you are not attacking. Will probably be fixed in the future.

Yes, that gets me a normal character switch, but that doesn't link into one another at all.
