How do I finish Goku Black's story?

There's a fight in which I need to be hit by Trunk's ultimate, but the fight begins against Vegeto (I'm playing as Fusionned Zamasu) and I've never seen him swap out for Trunks so I'm kinda lost. I got the alternate ending of that fight by beating Vegeto but not the canon one lol.

beat vegito down to like a sliver of HP and he'll switch for trunks, then be very careful and only get hit by trunks ultimate. will do 99,999 damage.

Does it need to be THAT low? 'cause I've downed him to ~half his final hp bar twice and he never swapped.

yeh i had him down to if i punched him one more time he would've died, literal sliver that was barely visible then he swapped for trunks, i lost a beam struggle, got exhausted, couldn't recover fast enough and got hit by trunks ulti

Thanks, I finally did it! Had to lower the difficulty for the very first time because Vegeto Blue is broken and they turned his AI up to the max...
And I had to retry because the first time Trunks showed up, he somehow whiffed his ult and killed me with a beam bruh.

I had to do this so many times over because Trunks kept missing his attack or not using it at all.
