You should be new to Dragon Ball franchise, there is not a single one game of Sparkling saga optimized for championships or online competitive matches. If you want something near this, you should try fighterZ.
This game is just for fun, and never focused on the goal to make a dragon ball championship game or competitive.
Its just a fan game to have some fun, and put aside when you got tired of all the no sense it have to offer.
And dont think im against your post, to be honest i think you are 100% right, but the fact is, this game is what it is, pure unbalance no sense made just to sell characters and outfits dlcs. Expect anything like tournaments or fair optmized matchs in this game is utopia. Better for both of us accept what this game is and what it have to offer, after that we need to leave it behind and search another game to have fun.
People are always pointing to one extreme end or another, when what the devs really need to do is find a balance that's close to the middle.
The devs went OVERBOARD with the game being "unbalanced" and made damn near everything broken. Which has resulted in the game being unplayable and NOT fun with other people.
And balancing the game to be "comp ready" would only make things worse and introduce new problems because it's taking things to an opposite extreme.
It's okay for the balance to be slightly shaky, but it can't be full-on broken nor EVO grand finals competitive.
I would just like a game where I can have a fair enough fight with most matchups, but If I pick someone weak like Kid Gohan and I'm going up against MUI goku then the odds should be stacked against my favor, while leaving enough room for a good chance to win if I play my cards right.
In the current state of the game I would have to MOVE heaven and earth, SPAM afterimage strike, MASTER every game mechanic, MASTER every tech, and THEN I MIGHT HAVE A CHANCE SMALLER THAN DUST TO WIN.
I mean, i think itll be cool if it was?
damn son
Oh wait, you're actually right as far as I can tell. Carry on.

As people have emphasized elsewhere, people misunderstand what the devs are saying when they want the game to be unbalanced. The CHARACTERS are supposed to be unbalanced, and even then that's supposed to be accounted for with the DP system. The core game mechanics should still function well, and characters should be as powerful as their DP suggests. As it stands, it seems there's a significant issue with both.
