Why do people crutch so hard on Sparking ki spam?

In a fighting game based on the show dedicated to teaching people that the easy way out is never the right one, that self-improvement is the real path to victory, and that trying your best to be stronger than you were yesterday...

So many people opt for the brainless, no-skill, "durr hurr spark spam" options.

Why? Is it because they CAN'T win without it, or is it just that they don't want to bother trying?

It's depressing when you absolutely destroy someone for 90% of the match only for them to get a lucky sparking off and start spamming ki blasts.

If there's a real, proper counter for it, by all means let me know, because I can't find one and it's getting very old losing to people who absolutely could not have beaten me without such a cheap trick.

In a fighting game based on anything, winning by any (legitimate*) means necessary is all that matters. If players are not banned for spamming Ki Blasts, they will continue to spam Ki Blasts if it means they win.

They def gotta add some kind of counter to Ki Blast spam though (see ZBroly LSSJ Instant Sparking) that's not just Revenge Counter, which doesn't even work most of the time.

* "Legitimate" in this context refers to playing without cheats that give an advantage over the other player. E.g. godmode, infinite Skill Counts, or infinite Ki.

I get it, I just...Guess I wish fighting games didn't attract the cheapest kind of players like they do.

I got this game hoping to fight people who have a mentality like Goku or Vegeta, not Guldo or Eis Shenron.

i feel ya, fighting LSSJ ZBroly who just goes instant sparking and ki blasts only (check one of Doto's videos for a demonstration) isnt really fun. they should do something so that there's a proper counter-play that isnt just Revenge Counter, which isn't even safe. there's gotta be an option that resets the situation back to neutral or something.

i've tried the same in jump force where people picked Perfect Cell just to spam Perfect Barrier because you cant grab him out of it, and you can only super him out of it if your super is fast and has a cinematic when connecting. and of course perfect barrier has mad range. ichigo's existence is also an example of this with his light speed normals. and dont forget just spamming projectile supers.

it sucks, but these players will always exist. the only options are to not rematch and or cheese yourself.

Except it isn't. Because the second I try, they're just going to Vanish, Perfect Block, Revenge Counter themselves, or let it happen so they can get right back to ki-blasting as soon as they CAN vanish, PB, or RC.

A counter would be something that stops it and KEEPS it stopped long enough to matter. But with how easy it is for them to PB and the fact they can RC you back as soon as you try to do anything about it means it's pointless.

It's like saying "The way to avoid getting hit by the car is to step off of the road" when the car is actively chasing you down trying to hit you.

flying around seems to help quite a bit. try it out. it'll require some meta vision though.

I've tried flying around, doesn't actually do anything worthwhile, I'm still stuck defending until they decide to ult.

Maybe ki spammers don't respect you because you're unable to teach them why they shouldn't do it. Maybe they're looking for somebody good enough to teach them a lesson, but that ain't you, so they stick to their simple strategy until it stops winning against better opponents.

There are strats that outmatch me by far, without being cheap as hell.

There are people who can time their blasts so perfectly, blend supers and melee like they were born to do it, and people who can pick this game up and pull off insane combat tricks that I can't even imagine.

I shouldn't have to spell it out so plainly, but you evidently need it.

I respect the hell out of anyone who focuses melee like I do because a pure melee focus is a grind and a half to make work due to how incredibly easy it is to counter a pure melee strategy, so anyone who uses pure melee like I do is going through the same struggle, and I respect the tenacity it takes to do that.

Look, I get it. You wanted to hate me for the fact that I believe that using cheap, no-effort tricks like sparking ki-into-ult spam is cheap and should be nerfed to the point of uselessness.

But hate me for believing that, don't hate me for respecting players that focus on the strategy that has the highest number of counters to it.

If you're going to hate me, do it for the reason you ACTUALLY dislike me, don't go around putting words in my mouth and making assumptions about me to justify it. Admit you have a stupid reason and move on.
