why do people never rematch?
title. 8 out of 10 players never rematch. it doesnt matter if they win or lose, they just wont rematch. anybody know why this is? if you do it yourself, can you leave your thought process down below?

"Lightshot" of my stats for reference. I know I'm far from top tier but I don't suck either, so short answer is nobody owes you anything, whether they don't want to fight you again or not & likewise for whatever reason. It's a game. Stop crying and move on, if you're that good fight the next person you can't quasi-predict...

If I beat you once I already know I'm better than you. Next.

I've fought people who only wanted a "rematch" to beat my main with a specific character of theirs to justify their salt....then they alt+f4 and get off on that but that's fair right? Denying them brownie points make the person who simply said no part of the problem? Why give anyone in 2024 any extra energy past the baseline when most people just want to ego stroke a specific "win" in their mind for most things, even outside this context?

i see other reasons in this thread, and i dont fit into the 'negative' boxes of experiences. crazy

Yea it sounds like you really play conventionally "acceptable". Not that you or anyone has to adhere to any rules, of course, but it would have explained the lack of rematches. But who knows, if you remember Rick from that other thread, maybe more people playing SZ have all sorts of outlandish things that aren't honorable in their eyes x)
i added him to play, but he deleted me. guess i took too long, i'll have to find some time so i can play him

Why rematch, just to, if I win, do it again or give you reasoning to counter against the same person's play style versus another's, more so to prove a point to yourself to justify it was a fluke/[insert cope] that you lost than to actually want a rematch. and the same goes vice versa if I lose and would want to put myself through more of the same when that doesn't help growth, only justifies the loser's standpoint. that's the only reason people want a rematch. Otherwise go the full three rounds even if you lose 2, because if you're going to rematch you might as well use every "rematch" you get even if you lose 2/3 before that last possible match.
i click rematch for EVERYBODY i play, except if theyre a much higher rank than me and or if the connection is bad. i just dont get any of these reasons. why not rematch if you found a match where you can actually play the game? why purposefully go back to waiting for another match, especially when there's a chance you'll just go against the same person again? and you learn something every time you play, no matter how hard you're winning or losing, though you learn more when losing.

people owe me a rematch :) this is the only game i played where the community is like this with rematches. it's annoying and sucks. let me rematch so i can win and so we can play more.

1) how do you know that? did they tell you in private chat?
2) just rematch and play the game bro, you're putting in way too much emotion into something that doesnt need it. just hit rematch (unless connection is bad) and play!

Personally? I like to select new teams and fighters between rounds rather than fight the same fighter with the same characters.

It's not bait. That's the way I've always played fighting games. Unless it's with friends, I see 0 point in fighting someone I know I'll beat. People getting angry over it is just the cherry on top.

winning doesnt necessarily mean youre better though. what if you won and rematched and then lost? are you still better or what?
