Not in A-Rank yet, haven't played enough matches for that, so I haven't seen any points lost, even in my losses. That's why I didn't know that you could lose points.
But that just goes to show you should lose points in ALL ranks, not just after hitting A-rank.
I said I was -almost- A-rank, not that I -was- A-rank.
And I'm in the B-ranks and haven't lost points for a loss yet. Someone else said you don't start losing points until you hit A-rank, which explains why I wasn't aware you even could.
Instead of assuming I'm BS'ing you, maybe consider that there were legitimate reasons for me not knowing?
In any case, ALL ranks should lose points for losing matches.
But I'll admit my faults, I assumed you asking what rank they were was you prepping to belittle them for their rank or call BS if they claimed a high-rank, like you did to me.
Most of the times I've seen someone ask what rank someone else is, it's purely out of malice, and I assumed you were no different. That was my bad.
Basically this, but I do not believe this is by intention. The inclusion of a ranked game mode is a clear statement that hey, if youre good enough youll eventually get to fight with the best at some point, which is the competitive aspect of alot of games.
However, the "illusion" of fairness, and absolute lack of balance at all is just a kill for the competitive scene, having played ranked since release, playing my favourite characters from the show exclusively, I have been getting my ass handed to me pretty much from whenever the meta started to form and I have been on the recieving end of pretty much every cheese strat there is, I have been practicing and learning on the side, but the fact of the matter is that if I too decide to use SSJ Vegito, I go from a 30 loss streak to a win streak until someone with a cheesier strat stops me, a healthy ranked arena needs to have the players play on the same premise, for comparison this game is like tour de france but you can compete with a motorbike if you want. So yes, not competitive, and ranked is a joke as it is now.
An easy first measure could be to include the dp cost of the chosen character in the matchmaking parameters for single battle, the dp cost is also not reflective of a characters win statistics and needs to be readjusted but it would be a safeguard against facing off against UI goku when playing as piccolo forexample.
I grew up on the budokai and tenkaichi games and this is kinda right up my alley but I wish they made a real attempt at making the ranked experience not be pretty much only the top tier characters that have more health, higher damage, faster attacks, or various other benefits, or a cheesy one, it does not feel good loosing to alot of these moves and is probably a contributing factor to people rage quitting in the middle of games (Been playing other fighting games competitively for over a decade and never seen people ragequit like this)
