Unblockable ultimates
Must be the dumbest thing I've ever seen on any game that pretends to be competitive on any level. This game is a joke.

Seriously, I'm almost in A-Ranks and everyone I fight plays like they just learned what their buttons are CALLED five minutes before the match, let alone actually knowing how to use them.

Ranked so far has been a travesty of gimmick spammers and folks that think "if i charge my energy they'll leave me alone so I can get my ult ready right?" for some reason.

Don't expect rank to indicate skill in this game. I promise you it doesn't.

''You dont lose any points at all for a lost match''
?? You do... but it only happens when you hit high B rank iirc.

Well yes, ANYTHING below A3 I would say is not really good at the game yet. Yes, there are people that spam certain supers or ultimates and use certain characters to gain an advantage in higher ranks *COUGH COUGH* SSJ4 GOGETA, MUI Goku, LSSJ Broly.
These types of people usually hover between A1 and S3 from my experience.

But when you reach A rank there are a lot of people who pick regular characters as well (Non fusions, non 4hp bar characters).

However, whether you like it or not, more often than not, rank does indicate better skill in a lot of cases.
Go play some Player matches and join an A or S rank lobby. People are less tryhard in Player matches, so less instant sparkings, less OP characters, but I guarantee you most higher rank players will combo you into a loss.

Not in A-Rank yet, haven't played enough matches for that, so I haven't seen any points lost, even in my losses. That's why I didn't know that you could lose points.

But that just goes to show you should lose points in ALL ranks, not just after hitting A-rank.

never did i imply i was using rank as an indication of skill, it’s a genuine question

also you do lose points for losing a match lmfao i find it hard to believe you’re A ranks if you’re saying that, you start to lose points when you hit B

I said I was -almost- A-rank, not that I -was- A-rank.

And I'm in the B-ranks and haven't lost points for a loss yet. Someone else said you don't start losing points until you hit A-rank, which explains why I wasn't aware you even could.

Instead of assuming I'm BS'ing you, maybe consider that there were legitimate reasons for me not knowing?

In any case, ALL ranks should lose points for losing matches.

But I'll admit my faults, I assumed you asking what rank they were was you prepping to belittle them for their rank or call BS if they claimed a high-rank, like you did to me.

Most of the times I've seen someone ask what rank someone else is, it's purely out of malice, and I assumed you were no different. That was my bad.

To pretend it was is just silly.

Basically this, but I do not believe this is by intention. The inclusion of a ranked game mode is a clear statement that hey, if youre good enough youll eventually get to fight with the best at some point, which is the competitive aspect of alot of games.

However, the "illusion" of fairness, and absolute lack of balance at all is just a kill for the competitive scene, having played ranked since release, playing my favourite characters from the show exclusively, I have been getting my ass handed to me pretty much from whenever the meta started to form and I have been on the recieving end of pretty much every cheese strat there is, I have been practicing and learning on the side, but the fact of the matter is that if I too decide to use SSJ Vegito, I go from a 30 loss streak to a win streak until someone with a cheesier strat stops me, a healthy ranked arena needs to have the players play on the same premise, for comparison this game is like tour de france but you can compete with a motorbike if you want. So yes, not competitive, and ranked is a joke as it is now.

An easy first measure could be to include the dp cost of the chosen character in the matchmaking parameters for single battle, the dp cost is also not reflective of a characters win statistics and needs to be readjusted but it would be a safeguard against facing off against UI goku when playing as piccolo forexample.

I grew up on the budokai and tenkaichi games and this is kinda right up my alley but I wish they made a real attempt at making the ranked experience not be pretty much only the top tier characters that have more health, higher damage, faster attacks, or various other benefits, or a cheesy one, it does not feel good loosing to alot of these moves and is probably a contributing factor to people rage quitting in the middle of games (Been playing other fighting games competitively for over a decade and never seen people ragequit like this)
250 million$ first 24h with this they could have fixed whatever u mentionned all. they won't and will leave us for years like this until next edition :(

most of these points were give by NRS shills when I was saying in these forums that MK1 is trash. Now look where that game is, everyone eventually accepted that it is trash and a cash grab, it will eventually happen to Sparking Zero if Bandai Namco doesn't change how boring it can be.
MK1 is an infinitely better game than speaking zero, you can’t compare a broken arena fighter going for "lore accuracy" to a fighting game designed around fairness and balance.

yea i apologize for the unnecessary remark, i guess the ranking system is still kinda iffy and doesn’t take points away from some players. But i believe B is a good spot to take them away still because that’s when the fights become somewhat challenging, D-C is extremely easy and still full of ssj4 gogeta spammers so i think it’d be annoying to lose points at that low of a rank.
