Episode Battles Insanely Difficult

I loved the old DBZ games back in the day but just cannot enjoy this game and feel that it is overly too difficult. I can't even get past the first Vegeta fight in Goku's story so I haven't even made it to the Great Ape fight everyone was talking about being too difficult. I don't wanna drop the difficulty as it says something about not being able to complete seconday objectives.

I don't know how to improve. The AI counters everything I do and I have to be absolutely frame perfect with every single input to even get a little bit of damage in. I feel like I don't understand the counter/parry system because they never work no matter when I press the buttons. The AI will counter everything I do and I can never get more than one hit in without getting countered and taking 10 combos worth of damage.

I really want to enjoy this game but the difficulty is just insane. I went through the training and the super training and none of it has helped in the slightest. The episode battles have no difficultly or learning curve. The AI is just on maximum difficulty right from the first fight and that just isn't fun in the slightest.

Just do training, AI is too easy in episodes mode...

This is how I thought it was when I first got the game, but people who say this will always be right, just take your time and be patient with learning the mechanics of the game. ESPECIALLY the Super Counters which is essential to get you out of combos.

Honestly, those alt routes where you have to beat them via defeating them quickly is just a walk in the park now for me.

This is not a game which rewards button mashing (most of the time). You actually have to use the given mechanics such as dragon rush, vanish, counter, super-counter, z-counter etc. The training section helps a lot with explaining all the stuff. Once you get the hang of it and have your first victories that encourage you to go further, its awesome.

if you watch others play, you will see how easy the cpu is to defeat.
it's all a matter of memorizing all the combat moves (which is not easy).
if you are an absolute beginner, you will take at least a few weeks of practice.
go play other game modes, forget episode battles until you get good.

Practice vanishing the super counter, then the AI basically can't win.

Skill issue sadly. Youre missing some fundamentals. The cpu is insanely easy.
