everyone misunderstands Goku

everyone thinks Goku is the strongest because he's good or because he's some kind of special talent but none of that is true, quite on the contrary:

the saiyan warrior race has unlimited potential thanks to their zenkai boost ability which makes them grow stronger after each beating they take, initially being weaker than aliens like Zarbon and Dodoria is only temporarly because given enough time the average saiyan would become more powerful than all of Freeza's henchmen eventually surpassing Freeza himself just like Goku did

Goku is just one example of this phenomenon occuring, Goku is not some kind of special talent, he's just what naturally happens if a saiyan is given enough time to fight and recover after many tough battles , Bardock was also on his way up the power scale just like Goku and Vegeta but he got killed before he could begin to surpass Freeza's henchmen one by one until eventually surpassing Freeza , Bardock was on his way of becoming the main protagonist but his story took a different turn

the saiyans biggest problem is that they have a slow start up on the power level scale and they require time and special circumstances to grow stronger than other races, this slow start up is the reason they're initially much weaker than Freeza's forces and why they worked under him

on the power scale the saiyans are like a ticking time bomb they're like an unstoppable virus once they pass a certain threshold , this is why Freeza decided to wipe them out before things got out of hand , i doubt Freeza was aware of their zenkai boost ability , but he felt there's something weird about the saiyans so he decided to wipe them out based on this uneasy feeling the saiyans were giving him, Freeza acted purely on his survival instinct , given how Vegeta was beginning to surpass all his henchmen one by one and Goku ending up beating him, Freeza did the right thing by blowing up planet Vegeta ,

given how only two saiyan survivors can cause so much such trouble for Freeza he did the right thing by blowing up Planet Vegeta , he also unintentionally did the universe a favor

but Goku is not special , quite on the contrary , he's born with a low power level being classified is a low class saiyan , but that doesn't really matter because given time and the right circumstances even the average saiyan can reach unimaginable power

Goku being good and having a "calm quiet heart" has nothing to do with his power and being able to transform into a super saiyan like how it was mentioned in one episode, because Broly is the best example why none of that is true

and there was also that spin off movie where Bardock transforms into a super sayian and Bardock is not a good hearted boy scout like Goku either , their transformation is triggered purely by two factors: high enough power level and intense anger


Goku is just an average sayian there's nothing special about him, that's what makes this whole thing crazy and why the saiyan race had to be wiped out

It's because the animes are entirely focused on Goku, even while he's dead.

It seemed like Gohan would be the one to take after Goku and would be the next strongest character based off what happened during the Cell saga, and with how they focused on him in the beginning of the Buu saga, but they immediately switched back to bringing Goku back. SSJ3 and Vegito completely overshadowed everything, and DBS did it once again with UI.

There's a huge chance Piccolo had an upper-hand in strength during the very beginning of DBZ, and Vegeta surpassed Goku's level at some point based on his intense training, but it's never shown. This is the reason why he's automatically assumed to be the strongest

Goku was born as a weak Saiyan and trained hard to get strong but also Goku is gifted with high combat intelligence.

I think that was always clear since the Saiyan saga, Goku was infinitely weaker than the 3 Elite class, he has always depended on masters to be able to progress but, unlike Vegeta, thanks to his masters he has learned a lot how to increase his power intelligently, progressively and without the need to be on the verge of death or have to train countless hours a day like a madman.

First of all, most saiyans were already stronger than all of Friezas henchmen because of Oozaru, secondly the only reason Goku is as strong as he is is because of training, not his biology. If Bardock went Super Saiyan against Frieza in their fight, for instance, he still would have lost. If Goku never trained with King Kai, then his Super Saiyan form never would have been strong enough to beat Frieza either.

Completely untrue. Most Saiyans don't even train, and yet were still among the most powerful in the Frieza force on pure genetics alone. For example, notice how every member of the Ginyu Force is a different species? The implication here is most Alien races produce only a few truly powerful people. Meanwhile if you take Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz, multiply their PL by 10x (Oozaru), all of the sudden you have three people of the same race that can rival the Ginyu Force. Yes, even Raditz would have a power level of 15,000 putting him close to Guldos level (11k-19k)

Notice how he doesn't hate his father despite the abuse he endured, how he stood up for Cheelai, and how he was naive enough to trust Frieza's word at face value. He's like a child. It's night and day compared to how Vegeta was in the Saiyan Saga. Also, if it wasn't obvious enough, he's literally a mutant.

You're right that Frieza had probable cause to kill them all though, but it has little to do with Zenkais and more to do with how innately powerful, plentiful, and disobedient they were.
