Dragonball games are worse that FIFA or Madden.
Ok, I get it.
There's a pretty active competitive community.

But dear lord, If feels like every one of these games is just the same thing, over and over and over, following the same old story lines and the same old gameplay, but with some new things added.

Xenoverse tried to mix it up, but even it fell prey to some of the same issues.

So, tell me, if you're not one of the competitive players, why pick this up over any of the other Tenkaichi-style games?

Because I'm not spending 500 dollars for a ps2 and the original tenkaichi games, I don't even have a functional computer to run the game, literally an official Unreal engine 5 upscale with top notch visuals, I never got to play the old tenkaichi games so now I can experience the new one. Most of all, I'm not buying another console to play these games, they're great but it's a waste of money

If you even need to ask yourself those questions then this game is not for ya.
Don't ask us to tell the obvious.

Because the last Tenkaichi style game was on PS2 generation and I didn't even have any of those.

(Addressed to replies, not OP)
difference between dragon ball games and sports or cod/battlefield, is that they're the same with minor differences I.E guns/ teams and dragon ball games have had a massive variety. I'll list you through the 10 recent main dragon ball games. (remasters don't count)

Breakers ~ Survival 1v7 ? Just like DBD and Friday the 13th
Kakarot ~ Singleplayer campaign RPG game that plays more to the RPG elements and boss fights than fighting.
Super Dragon Ball Heroes ~ Card battler with little mid fights. Plays on element factors
Fighterz ~ 2D fighter reminiscent of MvC.
Xenoverse 2 ~ 3D arena 3v3 fighter, goes through the story but with alterations, RPG game custom characters.
Xenoverse 1 ~ Same as Xenoverse 2 just worse.
Battle Of Z ~ Prototype Xenoverse ~ Mostly played for Co-Op
Ultimate Tenkaichi ~ 1v1 rock paper scissors game (both BoZ and UT are a bit underrated tbh)
Dragon Ball Online (due to popularity) ~ MMORPG (plays like a tradition one as well)....servers shut down in 2015 but plenty of revivals have happened, most popular one being Global.
Raging Blast 2 ~ successor to Raging blast 1 a year after 1's release, both act as spiritual successors to the Budokai Tenkaichi games.

Last tenkaichi game we've had was 2 console generations ago dude. There are tons of games with completely different gameplay styles and mechanics. This franchise just so happens to be a fan favorite and a LOT of people love that its coming back. This isnt an annual release like 2K or COD

1) "Tenkaichi style" games is literally 3 games, the last of which being 16 years old.
2) This the biggest Dragon Ball game roster, that will only keep being expanded
3) Cinematic story mode - BT3 didn't have that, branching choices in said story mode - a first to this extent, and if that wasn't enough from the sounds of it we not only get to replay the campaigns to make different choices, we also seemingly get to choose between 8 different points of view for the campaigns, which is likely where get things like Vegeta and Trunks fighting off Super Perfect Cell - as most likely Gohan was the one that was killed in that story.
4) Players can make their own campaigns and share them online for basically infinite content
5) the older games do not have the content that this game has access to
6) this game not only has all of the mechanics of previous Tenkaichi games, it improves them and adds more on top.

Your comment was accurate for every other Dragon Ball game. You chose to post it on the only game it didn't apply to

Wait what exactly do you mean with "players can make their own campaigns and share them online"?

I mean that it's confirmed we can make our own story modes and play story modes by other people. At the moment we don't know anything more than that, I would image it will look something like BT3 story mode, except the creator gets to set up all of the stats, transformations, order of battles and such. But unless they give a trailer on that, that's all we know at the moment

Okay I only knew about the alternate battles but not that these concepts can be shared
you're telling me that several fifa and maddens games that are not polished and are buggy as ♥♥♥♥, riddled with extreme predatory DLC's and then there's the fifa ultimate team which has been documented time and time again to be the most disgusting gacha in gaming history. there were even times where you could not even get a 5 star for instance until they got caught and had to change it so you could.

you're telling me these two games is worse than dragonball?
what a reach!
