failed to initialize game launcher (Anti-cheat)
My game is getting an error when booting up. "Failed to initialize game launcher" and then it will not open. I've repaired my game and uninstalled/reinstalled it. Not seeing anyone else experiencing this issue after a quick google.

Anyone having the same experience? Any suggested fixes? I can play it on my laptop, just not my desktop. I have other games that use the same anti-cheat so not sure what is going on.

DxDiag.txt - from another post.

Hello Freezingpint,

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

We are sorry to hear you have had a problem with the game not launching.

Having taken a look at the Dxdiag you have sent we can see there are a few system faults/crashes so to reveal any possible issues with your Windows system, we would like to recommend that you please attempt the following actions:
  1. Open the Windows Start Menu
  2. Type “cmd”
  3. Right-click on Command Prompt > Run as administrator
  4. Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes
  5. Press Enter
  6. If the process has revealed/resolved any issues, please attempt to run the game again
Also, we can see the program GalaxyClientService.exe is having a lot of crashes on your systems so can you please try to disable this and then restest the game to see if the problem still occurs?

Once you have done these steps please let us know if the problem continues.

We look forward to your reply.

Regards,
Team17 Support

I uninstalled it and Scannow as an admin and I still get the same error.
I even turned off all other launchers except steam on the PC in question.

Hey Freezingpint,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Can you please try and repair your Steam Library?
  1. In the top-left corner, click on the Steam menu
  2. From the menu, select Settings
  3. Navigate to the Storage tab on the left sidebar
  4. In the right-hand pane, click the three horizontal dots next to C:\Program Files (X86)\Steam
  5. Select Repair Folder
Please then follow the on-screen instructions and let the library folder be repaired. Then test whether repairing the folder fixed the error.

If not, would you be able to take a screenshot of the message that appears and pop it over to us so we can take a closer look, please? You can either post it here on Steam or email it to us over here[team17.helpshift.com] - if you email please make sure to reference this Steam thread so we can keep them linked :)

Get back to us when you can.

Regards,
Team17 Support
