The community team, [SIG]Dandy, and [SIG]Sherogorat from the QA team have been on Discord very recently confirming that development is ongoing, and Shero has seen some of the next update.
Yeah, [SIG] Dandy was actually talking about the lack of announcements and info sharing earlier today on Discord and they definitely understand it's something that some players want to see but until they get the green light to make any official announcements they can't.
Here are the posts I was talking about:
[SIG] Dandy — 5:40 PM
but i appreciate you understanding Mal, we do really wanna share info like you say but just can't
[SIG] Dandy — 5:43 PM
i can understand having something come from Mac helps with validity and certainty, however it would be the same thing the pantheon and QA have been saying for a while now
[SIG] Dandy — 5:44 PM
wether it's the right approach from us or not is here and there, but that's how SIG is doing it
the next post you'll see from Mac will ideally be the announcement of the update
In other words, the game is on hiatus until further notice.
No action can be taken due to the situations that's occured in the past and we're stuck waiting until further notice.
Ok.
We have NO idea what the recent lawsuit has done to this game. Not to say they were good with information on here before. But we'd at least get SOMETHING sooner or later.
So if you've seen other EA tittles then we can only assume the worst here.
Because even IF they manage to pull out an amazing update. What's gonna change?
Will it be the last update?
Will we still be cut off on contacts?
Will any of the bugs / issues be addressed? (No hot fixes since the last update release)
All we can do is wonder and hope things get better but 8 months in it's hard to keep positive no matter your position.
Usually? Maybe, maybe not.
There are non-disclosure agreements involved and I assume you know that is not how the saying goes.
There's another saying that applies here - no news is good news.
Interesting. What happened with Team 17?
I generally like a lot of Team 17's games.
There have been a lot of changes across the gaming industry over the past few years including thousands upon thousands of layoffs.
You can look up articles online that indicate Team17 underwent a lot of changes including layoffs and appointing a new CEO, Steve Bell replaced Debbie Bestwick.
Team17 Group even re-branded to Everplay Group earlier this year but chose to maintain the Team17 name for it's development and publishing label which is why it's still Team17 on Steam.
You can Google "Everplay Financial Reports" and the first result should be the annual report website for everplay group plc. Open up the 2023 document to see more info, check out the 2023 Operational Highlights section and you'll see some information about them changing the headcount (layoffs).
Yes, I said no news is good news. It's an old adage meaning "without information to the contrary you can assume that all is well." We have not been given bad news therefore "no news is good news" simply meaning we can assume all is well. This comment was made in response to someone misusing another adage so there's a reason why I said that.
It's not as if we've had no news, though. We have been told many times by the community team and by several QA team members that the developers are working on the next update and that development is ongoing. [SIG]Sherogorat even stated he has seen some of the next update. I say that's not "blind faith" at all.
I'm sure there's a reason why they aren't giving us more information but it really doesn't matter why because it is what it is and we can't change that. We'll get images and an ETA if and when they're ready to share that with us, and if we just get the update when it's ready with no ETA and no screen shots, well, I'm fine with that.
You have to be related to the devs, right? There's no way you're this much of a simp for a company that doesn't even care to update it's communication systems when their Steam Reviews have tanked due to the silence.
No, I don't have to be and I'm not.
It's not being a "simp" but thanks for your input.
